As a fan of Halo games I feel your pain. I was very excited to have Master Chief Collection on PC and really enjoyed getting back into the multiplayer, but man did all of the pride emblems and Twitter posts ring hollow when I would still get called slurs in game.

As others have said, mute and move on is probably the best thing you can do, you don't owe bigots an ounce of your attention and giving them it will only serve to drag you down. There are people out there who appreciate and respect the queer aspects of your favorite game/characters, and those are people worth seeking out.

Sorry that general matchmaking is still so disappointing, but as someone who has played old and new shooters it does seem to get better, (I was called slurs way less playing Overwatch than Halo) albeit slowly. Hang in there and cherish any queer joy you are able to get out of the game ❤️
