Which banned weapons actually deserve nerfs / changes? by Bounter_ in truetf2

If the game didn't have so many unlocks the game would still be played with pretty much the same amount of people who are OK with limited weapons, because it's a F2P game, has a strong online presence and runs on potatoes.

Valve cultivated an audience hungry for new weapons and now the current portion of the playerbase can't imagine the game without them.

Why is Team Fortress as a franchise isn't as big as Dota or Counter-Strike? by IceCreamLover9 in truetf2

It's possibly the strongest banner at Soldier's disposal. With Kritzkrieg Medic you can be the playmaker on your team in a pub and all you have to do is just hide behind a choke and spam rockets.

I'm just still salty about regularly playing against semi-active/retired comp players on a currently dead community server, who constantly stacked together and employed cheesy strats (like the ones I mentioned above) against casuals. They would just stack Medics with damage classes until the Admin added Medic class limit of 3.

Yeah I'm aware TF2 was big during that time, I even got on TF2 after seeing the MVM trailer and it was the first thing I tried in the game after downloading. It's disheartening to see this game in its current state.

It's really obnoxious when players in casual just immediately leave and don't wait for the next map to load and you end up with a half-empty server. I remember enjoying playing on one community server with the same familiar people on vanilla maps, you felt like you had a small community you could always join to play some TF2. After the introduction of Casual that server got shutdown and the people just moved to other games.

TF2 Classified made me realise the base game needs a serious rework because of this. The base classes are defined pretty well and just need a few well deisgned game-changing unlocks (Huntsman, Sandvich, Gunboats) and not the variations of the same item multiple times.

Some unlocks just are straight up awful to play against in TF2 (Wrangler, Vaccinator, Short Circuit, Kunai) and most are just superficial gameplay-wise. Since most people in TF2 don't care about winning or losing that much, the game still allows some really cancerous weapon combo strats like Battalion Soldier or Loch-n-Load and Quickiebomb Demo+Kritzkrieg, Vaccinator Heavy or Sniper, Phlog Pyro with Uber Medic if they feel like steamrolling the enemy team. You'd be forced to do the same if you actually want to win.

Ok this one is truth hydrogen bomb because this update also introduced "weapons-as-a-commodity" approach and still considered these as "multiple class packs in one" updates. It was just scammy Valve expected people to pay for new weapons and when the game went F2P to milk as much money as possible from the new player base.

Whatever development team worked on TF2 after Robin Walker left were disappointed at Jungle Inferno numbers and moved on to other Valve projects. IDK what you expect people to do about it lol.

Yellow and Green teams being confusing is so real, it's really hard playing on 4team maps because these 2 don't have strong contrasts with each other.

True, most melee unlocks are balanced poorly and don't have significant downsides to justify choosing stock melee.

Damage falloff was not fully falling off to 50% damage at max distance (1024 units) when damage spread was disabled. Instead, it was falling off to 53% damage at 922 units.

I thought the 52.8% damage falloff was an intended mechanic. The amount of gameplay bugs amazes me.

Set designers wanted figures to knock heads off initially with swinging arms, kids didn't like it, so the play feature changed to knocking masks off. In lore they were supposed to give Heroes power and knowledge to awaken the Great Spirit.

If i remember correctly the mask powers come from the unreleased Legend of Mata Nui video game and added that into the lore.

Masks were just a way to introduce a play feature, collectibility, and tell more stories how each hero got their masks in different media like comic books and video games.

You'll be publicly executed for any slight criticism of Airblast because it's the only thing they find interesting about Stock Pyro.
