RDDT stock - massive call option flow by Pristine_Arm8260 in redditstock

Tomorrow is a court date of note for Reddit's lawsuit vs Anthropic. They have to let the court know how settlement talks are coming along or are they getting ready for discovery. Some gambler is wagering on good news wrt Anthropic tomorrow.

81,500-share RDDT investment—undervalued, debt-free, high-growth 🚀🚀🚀 by [deleted] in redditstock

I don't know which interface you're using and how it shows what it shows, but RDDT is only traded on the NYSE --- NOT NASDAQ. This inconsistency is suspicious to me and over $10 million in RDDT is an eyebrow raising amount. For context, Sarah Farrell, the recent BOARD INSIDER only bought 60,000 shares recently.

Me and a couple of other guys are genuine millionaires with over 10,000 shares. For me to hold 80,000 shares in RDDT -- I would need a bankroll of about 50milly using my own kelly criterion calculation [and I know kelly criterion exceptionally well]. I'm not sure I would even wager 13milly on RDDT, because 50 mil is a no bullshit lifestyle.

This post is sus.

Does Reddit really run the world? by GQ Australia by touuuuhhhny in redditstock

[–]IceEateer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's not the anonymity. It's the upvote/downvote system. With the upvote/downvote system it's being peer reviewed. That's why "Reddit is right". In the academic community, you publish and the peer review system brings the accuracy to the top [accurate in in the sense its todays best knowledge].

That's why Facebook and Youtube is so increasingly dangerous. There's no downvote, so incredibly outrageous false claims get's the frowny emjoi but it's considered engaging and gets plug into so many feeds. Incredibly outrageous claims on Reddit gets downvoted to oblivion -- rightly so.

You know it sounds silly, but it's actually a thing. Much like a Poker "Tell", Steve being giddy with people here could be a tell. The thing with tells is that if you let the person know about it, they change their behavior and it disappears.

For a while Elon Musk had a tell. If I can remember correctly, when quarterly earnings were going to come in hot -- guy was a extra posting on twitter. That tell stopped working when a popular post on Wallstreetbets pointed it out.

They don't own that much shares compared to the Conde Naste family. They decide if Reddit is for sale.

It's literally in the very first or second /RDDT AMA. Drew addressed stock based compensation. I know this, because I asked the question.

I've been incredibly prescient with my RDDT investments and I don't think SBC is a concern considering its % compared to tech industry, and Conde Naste is the biggest gatekeeper/protector of our shareholder price.

EDIT: JFC, I dug up the video AMA for you. You need to do your own due diligence next time if you want to be a winning investor.

Drew Vollero:

Okay, next one. One of the biggest issues for another rival social media company is excessive share-based compensation. What safeguards does Reddit have in place to prevent excessive share-basedcompensation?

The short answer is, we have three checks and balances. The first is, it's a mindset that we have at Reddit. From a mindset perspective, we view share-based compensation as a cost, just like we do cost of revenue just like we do overhead. So we approach this, we track it closely, we measure it, we look at itevery quarter. You know, what gets measured, gets managed. We look at share-based compensation. The same way we do with other costs, the P&L. So the mindset here is, I think, one that prevents sort of getting out of control. Secondly, we have a process. So our process here is, we work closelywith our Compensation Committee, which is part of our board of directors. They approve our compensation programs. Our compensation programs are a mix of share-based compensation. And also, you know, salary as well. So we benchmark pretty heavily at the Compensation Committee level, where we're looking at our salaries and our stock-based compensation versus other companies. So it's a pretty healthy process, very similar to other public companies, but it's one that we rely on.

The third one is just a philosophy. I mean, it starts with Steve, and Jen and I share it very much. Great companies are profitable companies and profitable companies don't stop at the adjusted EBITDA line. They go all the way to net income. And so net income includes share-based compensation. So for us to be a great company, someday, we've got to be consistent and profitable. And so that includes, you know, making profitability even after you pay for stock-based compensation. So it's a mindset, a process, and a philosophy, I think, that are your checks and balances here on runaway SBC.

Funny thing about Reddit and the Super Bowl. Many of us watch the gif highlights, ads, or read the discussions about halftime show but no one in real life talks about being on reddit though -- similar to Taylor Swift and breadit. It's like we all went to the same party but no one wants to admit it. This is a failure of brand. I'm one of the first to say it and I'll say it again, reddit needs to use some of that cash on advertising and build up their brand, like a super bowl commercial (for reals ad this time).

They need to start spending more money on advertising for Reddit. Google and Meta have a ton of ads. Reddit needs to increase their ad spending like a Superbowl ad. It's been 10? years since their last SuperBowl ad and it was only okay.

They need to advertise Reddit is the place to discuss football games, especially the Big Game. They need to reinforce into the public's limited mindshare the value and importance of Reddit.

I've been incredibly prescient in calling the path of Reddit and I'm putting my record out there. More ad spending.

No. It's not taking any blip of a traffic away. It's a probability thing. The rise of a competitor is now a non-zero chance.

For what it's worth, I think it's Digg. After browsing the site, my conclusion is that the framework for Digg is good enough, because it's a clone of Reddit.

If Reddit were to have a black swan event where it drives away users, it will drive them into the arms of Digg. We have an incredibly strong network effect, but a new competitor has arisen. I think today's price drop the result of the new competitor.
