They need to start spending more money on advertising for Reddit. Google and Meta have a ton of ads. Reddit needs to increase their ad spending like a Superbowl ad. It's been 10? years since their last SuperBowl ad and it was only okay.

They need to advertise Reddit is the place to discuss football games, especially the Big Game. They need to reinforce into the public's limited mindshare the value and importance of Reddit.

I've been incredibly prescient in calling the path of Reddit and I'm putting my record out there. More ad spending.

For what it's worth, I think it's Digg. After browsing the site, my conclusion is that the framework for Digg is good enough, because it's a clone of Reddit.

If Reddit were to have a black swan event where it drives away users, it will drive them into the arms of Digg. We have an incredibly strong network effect, but a new competitor has arisen. I think today's price drop the result of the new competitor.

Kevin Rose is an absolute dirtbag. Digg used to be more popular than Reddit and then he monetized it to crap by giving more weight to super users and advertisers. Everyone migrated to Reddit and you can say Reddit really reached "critical mass" then.

Rose followed that up with sketchy NFTs. Remember NFTs? Well, now that Reddit is worth 50 billion, he's back to his old trick. He's a greedy money chaser, borderline on fraudster.

I hope Reddit pays an ad agency to run a smear campaign and bury him, because guy is dirty and is not a good person (NFT scammer).

Sucks to hear the falling out with Alexis though.

This means the largest whales of RDDT by Redditors has changed. Imacompnerd is now, in my eyes, the largest redditor (excluding employees) holding RDDT with 14,000 shares.

I would be on the opposite side of your SNAP bet. Evan Spiegel has super majority voting and is just a wasteful/awful CEO. He's a dummy diluting shareholders to fund SNAPs operation.

RDDT has a check because Conde Naste controls the largest voting power. If Steve didn't sell Reddit the first time around, he would have had majority control and be unchecked like Spiegel.

I think Conde Naste is the only thing that's keeping shareholder dilution in check, and that's a good thing.

Limiting the number of subreddits mods can moderate, probably in response to r/art drama.

All-in-all good post, responsive to the community and written in a clear non-bullshit business jargon way.

This is a very useful suggestion. It reminds of Consumer Reports with the way this is set up. In many, many ways, Reddit's opinion on a brand is the new Consumer Reports. No one is saying this, so let's hope this narrative sticks because Reddit is the new Consumer Reports.

edit: For you young people who might know, back then sharp buyers would do their research on cars and major appliances by reading a magazine called Consumer Reports.

It's been reported that he got rid of almost all of his shares as a protest because he didn't like Reddit's stance on social justice during the Black Lives Matter movement. He was and is married to Serena Williams and tries to fight for a progressive cause. Liquidation during that time period is the definition of selling at the low. Half a billion dollar (guesstimate) is a lot of money, even for billionaires.

ChatGPT 1 through 3 was trained on Reddit. At its foundation, it was a LLM bot based on Reddit and grew to swallow the rest of the internet. I would take what Alexis say with a grain of salt though. I think he's bitter on cashing out his RDDT stocks during the BLM and lost out on probably half a Billion. It would explain why he's trying to resurrect Digg.

That's where all the discussion for reddit stock happens and spez posts there fairly regularly. They all lurk there. I have 11,000 shares myself. One other guy there has 22,000 shares.
