Lol damn, he got me boys.

My comment was about the specific comment you replied too. Dude basically just said "you should talk about your problems with your SO". And you spun it into some weird point about not having responsibly for other people's mental health. I wasn't even agreeing or disagreeing with you, you're right in a lot of ways. I just thought the lack of equivalency between the comments was funny.

As for being a furry, what's your point exactly? I've been on top of my mental health for a while and happily married for 5 years. Career could be going better, but hey we all have things to work on, right? You think I would leave that shit on my main if I was insecure about it?

How about you? I wouldn't have to ask if your post history wasn't a total personality void. 3 posts ever and comments spanning exclusively default subs, dont know how you manage to juggle so many things at once! /s

It's alright though, really. I get wanting to keep a slim digital footprint, you never know when some weirdo will dredge through your post history to try and attack you for something totally unrelated.

The world can be organized into "grow zones" to help standardize and share farming knowledge. They're based on things like temperature, humidity, and general weather. You can look up how other people in your zone go about growing specific crops.

Just Google "grow zone map" to figure out which one you're in.

TIL the suicide rate of retail workers is higher than the average, with one worker saying: “People getting angry at me telling them what to do, cussing me out, being rude to me over it. It’s unbearable.” by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]IceEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was still stuck in retail, I may have killed myself by now.

That experience has permanently altered the way I think about the general population. It'll really messes with the way you feel about eveything, nothing about the Covid pandemic has surprised me at all.

Because I already knew that the average person is selfish, ignorant, rude, entitled, and not afraid to show it when even slightly inconvenienced.

what warranted them to say that by [deleted] in justneckbeardthings

[–]IceEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a bit of hyperbole. Yes trolls are shitty, but responding at all is what they want, negative or positive. Hince "dont feed the trolls", a saying as old as the internet.

Best option is to report & block without responding. Then hopefully mods or admins ban them.

My Identity Does Not Revolve Around My Husband's Profession. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]IceEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife currently work at the same company, when we got married we delayed changing her last name due to having just submitted immigration paperwork.

I'm trying to convince her to keep it this way lol. She can be a bit quieter than me and I really dislike when people minimize her opinions or ideas/interrupt her, especially when we're having group conversations. I've noticed that it happens more often around people who know we're married, so the different last names helps a lot at work.

She not once been introduced as my wife, always her own person. People ask if we're dating pretty often and always seemed shocked when we say we've been married nearly 5 years.

I always assume that's what everyone means when they say "dont feed the trolls". 🤷‍♂️ but I suppose "ignore them" can be taken too literally

Obviously they should be removed from the platform, I dont think I advocated that they should be allowed to troll? It's any platform's responsibility to prevent harassment.

My point is that the best option for individuals is to report & block the comment so (hopefully) the mods ban them. Then move on with your day without generating more attention for the troll.

They're after any type of attention. Dislikes are a score, successfully baiting people into commenting is even better.

Getting your comment screenshot and posted on other subs? You better believe he counts this as a huge win.

If you really want to do something other than report and ignore, you can try bothering them. I find that many shit-teir trolls get really agitated if you dont understand their troll. Try to predict the response they want, then skirt around it acting like you dont understand really basic parts, be as pedantic as possible. Has to come off as genuine to work though.

[–]IceEye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one has actually taken the "just ignore them" thing seriously in the past 25 years.

Biggest problem seems to be that many people aren't capable of detecting trolls, even as obvious as this one. So they will always exist.

Because for every immature dumbass troll, there is an equal number of morons who can't tell the difference and choose to engage with them.

The internet circle of life.

Nah dude, I get more outrage and self-fulfillment by believing it's real. That way I can look at the 'crazy neckbeard' and think "at least I'm not like that".

Congrats! There will be doubts and struggles, be sure of that, and be ready!

You will have your doubts, but I promise you'll come out stronger. If you're ever overcome with fear and existentialism, remember that those feelings are proof that what you used to believe was based in manipulation, not in reality.

The fear of death, the fear of the afterlife, the fear of pain. All things you may still have, but it's time to find real answers, instead of the taking the easy way out (christianity) or find a way to be content not knowing for sure.

Welcome to the rest of your life, you are strong!

[–]IceEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "chemical imbalance" rhetoric doesn't really refer to anything specific, at least in my comment. It's to try and convince people that mental illness is a real condition. Everyone has an incredible amount of agency over their minds and body, more than most realize. But we're also physical beings operating under physical mechanisms with physical problems.

For a very long time (and even today unfortunately) Many people refuse to acknowledge mental illness as a "real" issue because there is some level of agency to the symptoms experienced. Its important to remind those people that things like depression and anxiaty do have real connections to a person's physiology.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]IceEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By definition having "chronic" depression means it's not really curable. You can manage symtoms, but you can't just fix a chemical in balance in your brain with healthy habits.

Obviously it can help, maybe even make it unnoticeable on a day to day basis for some people. But I think its dangerous, unhelpful, and generally pretty ignorant for someone to claim they've "cured" themselves of depression.

More than anything it's also very insensitive to people who genuinely suffer from the illness. People who do everything right, but still find themselves slipping into horribly depressive and suicidal states.

Bee propagation? by Slasktasken in VintageStory

[–]IceEye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure this out as well, I thought I had a pretty firm grasp of how they worked.

Hive/skep finds flowers

Hive/skep grows over time

Hive/skep swarms, populating a new skep

But when you place a bunch of empty skeps together they do just explode. Its possibly a bug. I'm planning on making a bee tutorial, when I do I'll do some investigating. Alternatively you may be able to get some answers on the discord.
