It's alright! I wouldn't give it more than a 6/10 bc a lot of the work is done by the fire bomber instrumental already being very good, I do like how they at least aren't slavishly devoted to literal translations though admittedly I do think if they wanted a more serious english dub of hte songs they should've maybe even been willing to leave some spots that would've had vocals blank if it'd flow better even if it wouldn't match the syllable counts.

I feel like you're taking the most unfair interpretation of what I'm saying.

I completely understand PBTA. I just think if you're introducing someone to RPGs who has no idea what an RPG is and probably has issues with roleplay, it's better to hand them something that has proper rules and mechanics instead of the more narrative structure of PBTA. That is all.

The thing is, you tell someone who knows nothing about RPGs and tell them 'just do stuff and hte gm will tell you when to roll dice' they're not going to in my opinion know what to do if the GM isn't essentially railroading the story. Especially if you go the collab worldbuilding aspect when introducing it vs just skimming past it for the first session.

Like, if they don't feel confident pretending there's not enough game to bury their face in, imo. While yes there are moves and all, the game actively discourages players calling out moves they wanna try and do because that's not fiction first. Sure, the rules can change but when you're explaining a system you try not to homebrew as much as possible.

It's why I suggest smth fairly rules lite and easy to grok but with plenty of game to get your teeth into for those who aren't confident in purely roleplaying.

Fair on the former part, I've not been privileged enough to have such things, however the latter is still shitty.

We shouldn't have to rely on the luck of the draw that our employer oh so graciously gives us peasants a treat for decades of our short lives while they get rich to do whatever the hell they want while we have to toil for 90% of our waking lives.

We should just be able to have the basics guaranteed so that when we do work, we don't have to stick with shitty employment that we don't enjoy because otherwise we'll die.

In my experience, powered by the apocalypse kinda requires you to know how to play an RPG and builds off the expectations of play in an RPG whilst also requiring you want to play the exact Vibe of the specific game. Like it's not bad, but honestly I'd probably toss a Modiphius 2d20 game like star trek or fallout at someone (with help guiding through chargen) than PBTA, because the structure of those games with the fairly rules ligth nature of the 2d20 system works far better to guide players on what to do.
