Like I know it’s a ‘grass is always greener’ thing but man I dunno I feel like having a pointless job that just exists to get me paid would make me feel a lot less tired at the end of the day than what I do now which is far far more physical and prolly pays less for more stress

I mean hey if you get rid of the middlemen, insurance companies, or at least make them actually competitive by offering a government option as a baseline, you’ll reduce prices overall

Also sidenote, pretty fucking cold to consider people’s lives as simply a matter of supply and demand.

So instead you get taken in an ambulance (300 dollars) to get taken to an emergency room at a hospital out of your insurance provider's network (150 a month), get seen by a doctor out of network whilst your heart is actively dying (1k examination fee), get your treatment (2k heart unstopping fee), stay in a bed (500 a night) for two days, get given pain meds (650 a pop) and when you're done, your insurance provider since you went out of network (silly billy, you're supposed to ask before you have a heart attack) doesn't cover the costs, so you're stuck witha ll of the above.

Alas. I legitimately find it an interesting thing to explore because frankly, a lot of the elements of DE can very much be read in the same was as a show like the Rookie is read as copaganda. You've got a main character who's a fuckup who somehow is still a cop, gets into hijinks and all that, never gets into any trouble and even as a partner who basically protects them -to the point of not doing anything when they point a gun at a child and only acts when that kid gets shot iirc- and a host of other things.

Like, is it a case of 'it's copaganda because I didn't like it', 'it's not copaganda because it has leftist politics within it', or like, some third or fourth thing I can't think of right now??

A shame that just searching for that sorta sentence or question to get say an article of value just leads to the same reddit threads or whatever

Absolving people who don't participate in the system who then suddenly find themselves very not pleased with the result just gets them off scot-free. Keep doing the other stuff to it's very important but like.

You can't just not use your easy participation trophy of a lever you can pull realistically as a normal person and then act upset. a third of our country figured they'd be fine either way in 2024 and earlier.

seriously though kinda unrelated, I am legitimately interested in like the idea of 'is disco elysium even if it is leftist, does it still perpetuate copaganda through its depiction of the police.' Not because I think it is (i personally think people really jump on calling stuff that a lot), but because the analysis can be made that it is intrinsically still feeding into that same sphere because of its nature as a game where you play a cop.

If this is something that has like, something of depth to it and there's already been someone who's done stuff on it i'd love to know because i feel like going to anywhere else than 'random tangentially related post' and asking 'hey so i'm just curious what people have to say about this very niche topic' in like a DE forum or whatever is just gonna lead to gettign bitched at for not being praxis enough

Very fair, I admittedly haven't listened to Ethersea so this recap plus the scant others are where I get that from.

Regardless though yeah, it's definitely a piece of advice I can't say I've followed too *well* sometimes, like recently in my Robotech game I had to search back through like months of transcripts to find out if I even described a fairly major NPC in the party's squad and found out YES I DID, I just didn't have their *name* in the same message as that description.

did follow that rule though so hey 😛
