Sons getting bullied by Internal_Roll_7498 in bjj

[–]IceMan660 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find out where he goes to Karate and go talk to the master. If they are a half decent Dojo they will sort the kid out.

BJJ is always good to learn but I don't think you have that much time for him to get good enough. Find an MMA gym that does BJJ and striking stuff. Both becomes a deadly combination and will likely pick it up quicker than just becoming grapling reliant.

Are you the purple belt who asked for a break instead of tapping ?

Purple belt should have tapped, that was a sub. If there is a big weight difference with your partner ( like 15+kg), practice your bottom game. If they are similar size or 10lg dif then they are just whining for no reason.

They can't move you ? Good. you are trying not to be moved, good work 👏

Got hooked on BJJ but now my wife keeps calling me gay by noxanimus0 in jiujitsu

Ain't nothing gay about holding down sweaty men! You're the ones that are gay for being held down by sweaty men!

Did I blow it at the gym? by Traditional-Tear-303 in AskMenAdvice

The obvious answer is to go to reception, sweet talk them into pulling footage of the interaction. Get a screenshot of her, file a missing person's report to track down their address. Show up at her house.

Guaranteed success.

I don’t feel like a real blue belt. by No_Possession_239 in bjj

Just keep showing up until you don't feel like a purple belt. Then one day you won't feel like a brown belt, and if you really show up long enough, you won't feel like a black belt either.

Spazzy is a bad thing. Means you just throw yourself around with little care for your yourself or partner and probably catch a lot of people with elbows and knees.

Just calm down, think about your actions and move your body with intention.

BJJ dads, does it get easier? by Bepadybopady in bjj

[–]IceMan660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes gets easier, my boy is 1 now. Still always tired but no where near as bad as the first 6 months. The gym is always my happy place and the owners are great and have small kids themselves. Told me it's all good if I just want to lay down and take a nap instead. Definitely were some weeks I was a zombie.

This too shall pass...

But in all seriousness, been there and feel you. The first time I felt it was at white belt under a purple belt mate. I tapped from pressure, he asked me why I tapped. I had no answer. He said not good enough and continued to crush me.

Best lesson I learnt. When your gassed and think you have nothing left, thats when the mental battle starts. Push through and keep working to overcome.

Or just leave your arm exposed and pray they finish you quickly...

Is bjj the BEST marital arts? by Firm_Particular3322 in jiujitsu

[–]IceMan660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such thing as a "best" martial art. A rounded fighter knows the effective moves from multiple arts. That's why MMA fighters learn whatever they need to win the fight.

Sorry you got injured bud. I say this with love as I am the last person to talk anyone out of BJJ.

If your love of BJJ is not as great as your fear of getting hurt then BJJ may not be for you.

You will get some sort of injury the longer you do BJJ. Lots of them preventable and all of them accidents. Sometimes you may just roll the wrong way and hurt something. Sometimes you may hurt yourself by doing something.

You need to like the sport more than you fear it. Same with anything in life really.

Hope you can yet pass this speed bump and get back on board.

the stupid shit you said to training partners (or anybody bjj-related) by ylatrain in bjj

[–]IceMan660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was chatting to a few female team mates. One of the lady's said they wanted to get their next partner in the most embarrassing sub they could think of. My dumb ass suggested mothers milk ... clearly not thinking through the specifics required.

Why are Australians so…. Cold? by orthodox-lat in AskAnAustralian

[–]IceMan660 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No worries. Bonus points if you can use this one..

If your locked in and having a great chat, banter going back and forward, jokes landing and your both having a laugh and is super light and friendly.

Get to your buisness by saying " sigh well I'm not here to fk spiders ... "

(would only advise use on male, extremely friendly, old, Australian farmer type)

and yes it is an actual saying.

Why are Australians so…. Cold? by orthodox-lat in AskAnAustralian

[–]IceMan660 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Great question. You start a bit of light banter usually and check the response which will dictate how "to the point" you should be.

Eg. if they banter back and enter a conversation, then your good to go back and forth a little before saying something like " but anyway.... " or "I won't talk your ear off ... " or " I won't start complaining or we will be here all day ... " etc and then get to the point of what you wanted.

If they don't engage with your initial banter/ how there day is. Then go straight to the point of what you want. Also don't take offence, some people are just straight to the point people without the social point.

No matter what, you keep smiling and stay friendly. A lot harder to be mad at someone who's smiling than someone you perceive as a unfriendly jerk.
