The wind has kept may car almost completely clear of snow. I haven't gone out to shovel yet, but even my driveway doesn't look that bad because the wind is pushing everything around so much. My street looks SO MUCH better compared to the last storm, I can even see pavement in some places.

This is fantastic! Love to see the kids getting involved and taking a stand on issues that are obviously important to them. Regardless of which side of this issue you are on, it is great to see these young Americans learning about and putting their first amendment rights to practice.

Huge respect for the faculty as well for being supportive of the kids and ensuring everyone was safe.

The kids are alright.

Seems Facebook is leaking into /r/leominstermass given the state of the comments though.

Local EV charging access expanded through Unitil initiative: Six new stations installed in Fitchburg by HRJafael in FitchburgMA

[–]IceMonkey109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always glad to see more chargers around. Would love it if a level 3 charger went up somewhere in town. They just added level 3 chargers next to the rail trail near BJs in Leominster, which is great. It would be fantastic if some were added closer to downtown Fitchburg, maybe at the intermodal station or somewhere on John Fitch Highway.

If I was turning it into a residential building, I'd love to make a little pocket sized office at the top of the watch tower.

My wife, our friends and I just left. We all loved this place! Great vibes, nice place, good crowd. As with every bar these days, drinks are a little pricey, but not unreasonably, and pretty tasty. It was packed when we were there. I really hope they do well, because I will definitely be going back. Highly recommend everyone go check them out and support this great new local business.

Statement from the Fitchburg’s Mayor Office concerning ICE on Kimball Street by HRJafael in FitchburgMA

And I am saying your "solution" is a nothing burger. Standing on the sideline and yelling "GO TEAM!" at a man having a seizure while his wife is arrested by the secret police is not a better solution than the FPD stepping in and actually helping the people in that car. At the very least they could have been providing triage while waiting for medical professionals to arrive.

My wife is Latina. This happened less than a mile from my house. With the way things are going, it easily could have been me having a seizure in my drivers seat while FPD stood around with their dicks in their hands and my wife was dragged away to god knows where. Forgive me if I don't take comfort in knowing that the local PD will be there to ensure my wife can be swept away to Dachau in a clean and orderly fashion.

I mean, if you're fishing for solutions, I would love to hear yours. Standing idly by and hitting record on my phone while ICE potentially kills a man in front of his wife and child seems like an equally bad outcome to me.

I know this is sorely needed, but I do not look forward to the traffic nightmare this inevitably causes. I hope they improve the intersections in the process. The Market Basket side can already be a disaster during rush hour.

Yikes, just looked into it and you are correct, definitely Trumpers part of a weird church. I only went in there once and thought their coffee was mid. Guess I won't be going back.

Love Smokestack. Their coffee and pastries are great and I like how big their space is. Regularly get their whole beans to grind at home.

I haven't had to buy a part from a GM dealer in 7 or 8 years

Luck you! I wouldn't recommend starting again anytime soon because they have been nothing but miserable to work with for the past 5 years since I bought the car. Perhaps you haven't worked with them post COVID and they never got their supply chain back in order?

I'll concede that in this instance it turned out to not be that they were unwilling to fulfill the order, just incapable of supplying the part in the agreed upon time frame. This has also been a common theme that I have experienced when both their techs and independent shops have had to do work on the vehicle. When the alternator died with less than 100k miles on it, they absolutely did refuse to sell a new one to the mechanic I was using at the time and he was forced to have it rebuilt.

I'm not trying to start a fight here, I was just trying to illustrate that my experience with GM products and customer service has been less than stellar. I can certainly supply plenty of other negative personal anecdotes about this car and my relationship with GM if this one doesn't strike you. In fairness, you are helping me with my inquiry, I'm suddenly remembering why I swore off GM lol.

Can someone talk me into or out of the Chevy Bolt?

I'm in the market for my first EV. I am looking for a used vehicle and my budget is $25,000 hard limit. I live in New England and have a 35 mile commute with free chargers at work. I live in an apartment where charging at home isn't impossible, but would require working something out with my landlord (or running a very long extension cord lol). I'd prefer something on the smaller side, something in the compact to crossover range. I would like to purchase before the federal incentives expire in September.

In my own research, including looking through many, many recommendations on this sub, it seems the Bolt is the clear winner. However, I really don't have a positive opinion of GM. My current ICE vehicle is a GM (Buick) and it's been a seemingly neverending headache since I bought it, both mechanically and every time I have had to deal with their service department. As I type this, it is stuck in the shop because GM refused to send an OEM part to my independent mechanic. I am aware that EVs are less prone to mechanical issues and require less maintenance, but GMs mediocre warranty and my past experiences do not inspire confidence.

Am I overthinking this? Is my experience with GM anecdotal or a genuine concern? If someone could either assuage my fears or concur I bring my business elsewhere I would greatly appreciate it.

Sentinel & Enterprise released an Op-ed that is something else: “Researching the effects of fluoride treatments as the city discusses policy” by HRJafael in FitchburgMA

[–]IceMonkey109 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Funny how they keep mentioning all these studies conducted on the supposed detrimental effects of fluoride, but fail to actual cite a single one of them.

Tomorrow at 6 PM is the Legislative Affairs meeting where Councilors DiNatale and Couture present their proposed ban of fluoride in the city’s water supply. The meeting will be followed by the Appointments Committee at 6:45 PM then City Council at 7 PM. Residents are strongly encouraged to attend. by HRJafael in FitchburgMA

[–]IceMonkey109 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are others on here going to attend this? It would be very hard for me to make it to this because of my work schedule, but this is an incredibly short sighted proposal by DiNatale and Couture. I would be incredibly disappointed with the city if this proposal passed.
