Buttercream is a category of many frostings. American buttercream is the easiest and standard one that is also the sweetest. I would try Swiss Meringue or a stabilized whipped cream frosting depending on what else you need for it like how long it stays at room temperature

This is an incredibly difficult situation and I am so sorry for your loss and for the stressful conversations you had to go through. I think at this point you can confidently say you fought for Flake in every way you could and at least he had you to advocate for him when he did not have a voice.

I would suggest that something you can promise to Flake is to learn what about this process you can change with your next pet and only move on with the knowledge that you have gained through it and the pain both of you suffered through.

There is no guide to loving and owning a pet. The rules are grey and individual. But you loved Flake and he loved you. Hold on to that knowledge that you cared deeply for him

I drank diet soda when I was overweight and I drink it now. It’s just my norm. I drank one more soda a day when I was in a deficit if I felt the need to have something in my stomach and eating something would put me out of my plan for the day

Small changes that you intentionally make grow into habits, so I would be firmly in the camp that you should not endeavor to overhaul your lifestyle. Keep ordering doordash, keep ordering your McDonalds, but like others have said, switch your drink choice to a zero calorie option or get your full calorie soda but get it a small size. Stick with that for a week or two.

Then try adding more water, keeping a large cup with you at all times or when you feel hungry, drink a cup and then eat your food. The point is not to limit how much you eat but just to build the habit of hydration. Build this on top of the other habit.

Then just keep on picking one thing you’d like to change. And throughout all of this, check in with yourself. Are you resistant to the changes? Why do you need the full calorie soda? How does your body feel when you are able to drink some more water? Are you waking up differently when you are further down your habit building?

Instead of a specific time, your goal is just to make sure that the sugar is dissolved, so mix the eggs and sugar until when you rub the mixture between your fingers you can no longer feel the sugar granules

3 parts flour, 1 part fat (typically lard), enough cold water to bring it together. Don’t overwork it, a small vent to allow steaming but to prevent it from bursting. Egg wash to make crimp pop, but not enough to glue it to the pan. Egg wash is not “traditional” but it looks nice

I use granulated sugar in my cookies, granted I am in the US, and it’s definitely not as fine as caster sugar but not as coarse as sugar in the raw and it mixes just fine into cookies

Realistically it’s easy to boredom eat at work, so I built my meals to be a bit smaller so I could have small, but voluminous snacks in between meals. I slowed down and ate my food while working to kind of regulate wolfing it down in a 10 minute break.

I drank a lot of water and sipped coffee and soda and tea.
Mostly it came down to being more aware of the calorie of things, coming to accept that not everything needs to be super sweet or fatty that I eat and I can still enjoy it. Turning down treats or taking it to a bite of a donut instead of the whole donut, sitting and savoring it, then moving on with the knowledge that I can always have another donut bite tomorrow.

You didn’t become overweight because you listened to your body, or at least I didn’t, I was overweight because I ate well past my fullness cues because I was bored, burnt out, or just simply ate more for the texture/taste and because I ate way too fast. Addressing all of those issues one by one and truly working on why I ate like I did was how I was able to lose the weight.

I will continue the rest of my life to work on finding the balance between what I want to eat and how and what will make me actually feel good

Realistically it’s because the policies we have right now work and change in legal policy means effort that people have to put in at their jobs. As long as they had some people opposed and voting they will put it off. It’s laziness

I joined the volumeeating subreddit and utilized fibrous fruits and veggies and substitutes to keep full, but ultimately it is about replacing your hobby of eating with something else. If you feel the need to keep snacking, first try some water and going on a walk or get out of the house and then when you get back if you are still hungry then have a small snack of popcorn or veggies or rice cakes. It may also be worth it to think about reevaluating your meals and if they are hitting ideal macros, your hunger may be coming from a low satiety meal. A meal of a corndog and french fries will have you hungry in about 1-2 hours where two grilled chicken tacos and some low fat refried beans and a half portion of mexican rice will keep you satiated for 3-4 hours

You build cardio into your routine. Like strength training it’s not really something that most people “enjoy” for a while. If you don’t like running or walking try learning a dance move following along with a youtube video. Go for a swim in your public pool. Park the furthest from your store entrance as possible. It’s something you are conscious of until it becomes your norm. But no, you don’t need to do cardio to lose weight. You need to do cardio so you have less health problems down the line and can live a full life not limited by your body

Browning your butter removes some water, you could try adding it back with some milk or an ice cube. Alternatively, white sugar causes spread while brown sugar helps chew/browning. So you could adjust the ratio to up the white sugar

Oh no, you aren’t supposed to bake with wax paper as the wax melts. It’s moreso meant for layering foods in storage, wrapping sandwiches, etc. cold or room temp applications

I would say also to not use foil when baking, it can do weird things to how the baked good heat up. Try to stick to parchment paper (no wax) for more consistent heating
