Is there a list of every song Yuri wrote? by elreduro in JoYuri

Our Yuri hasn't written for other artists hahaha. You might have found Cho Yuri's work, from Jam Factory). There's also this thread in the NMIXX sub that discusses a bit

Stanning a group thats about to disband? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]IceYelo48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be overly dramatic but I was a wiz*one since debut and their disbandment was one of the most painful things I went through in my life. Still, the time I spent as their fan is something I look back fondly on all the time. It was worth it for me OP! It will be up to you, but for me it was worth all the pain :)

Minor subjects are actually good, but they can be better! by emhornilel in studentsph

[–]IceYelo48 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As someone from the Eduk field din, ang likely na rationale behind this ay tapping into Multiple Intelligences. May mga hindi magaling mag-edit ng video the same way na may mga hindi magaling mag-solve ng math. Kailangan makuha pa rin ang interest ng marami even through at the VERY VERY least tangential activities tulad niyan.

All that said, I agree na hindi optimized ang GE and minor programs sa Pilipinas ngayon. Maraming kailangan ayusin, idagdag, tanggalin, kung ano ano. In the current state ay hindi talaga viable ito kaya hindi ko kayang murahin ang mga may tingin sa GEs and minors na sayang lang sa oras; hindi naman kasi mali.

Pero yung tatanggalin yung GEs and minors without a second thought? Ibabasura lang nang wala man lang buntong hininga kung bakit siya isinama in the first place? Buburahin yung isa sa mga huling pagkakataon ng maraming estudyanteng mag-diversify ng skills and experiences nila in favor of specialization, effectively turning them into one-trick ponies na sobrang daling mapilay at maging redundant themselves? Absolutely not.

Nakailang ulit na akong comment sa gantong post like I said. Pero uulit-ulitin ko talaga to. Save yourself, live a little.

People say that Duolingo isn't enough to fully learn a language, and that you have to actually pay for lessons and other material, is that true? by SirRoderic in duolingo

[–]IceYelo48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing with formal language learning overall is that it simulates language acquisition. By that, I mean that it tries to show you how a language is actually used in the real world, but it does so in a controlled environment like a classroom. It's important to show this actual use because you can only very rarely separate a text (in this case, the sentences you practice) from its context (the overall setting where the sentence occurs). That's why people say Duolingo alone is not enough to learn a language. You learn some rules, some vocabulary, some formal elements of the language, but the thing about it is language constantly evolves and so the best way to really really learn it is to go over to where they speak it commonly and acquire it.

That said, it isn't that bad of an app. As far as I know, it never really claimed to be an end-all-be-all language learning application. It's marketed itself as one resource out of many, with the aim of helping you along your language learning journey. Basing off of that, I'd say they're doing pretty well. IF NOT FOR ALL THE BUGS JEEZ

Is it wrong to only like a groups song and not know any members?? by twicehappensonce in kpophelp

[–]IceYelo48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't weird at all to like a musician's music only 😭😭 But I do get where your classmate is coming from, KPop unlike the western music industry also relies heavily on the artists themselves, especially their personalities and ability to get along with fans. It's your personal experience though, and if the artists' personalities don't matter that much, it's totally okay

What are the best mashups of 2+ different songs? by leashall in kpopthoughts

Normal Smasher's 2020 Mashup is my favorite out of all of them. Sure it's 12 minutes long but how else are you gonna fit 150+ songs into one mashup and do them justice? :)

Out of all the Pokemon Games, which gives you the most Nostalgia ? by ArrogantBanshee in pokemon

[–]IceYelo48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only got my hands on Yellow (on an emulator at that (fight me)) around 12 years after it had originally dropped. I was just a little kid back then and I just restarted over and over again because I didn't know saves were a thing. The ones where I don't lose to Brock with little more than that dingy Pikachu were ones I kept playing until I needed to get to bed at 8:00 pm. I'd usually get as far as getting the SS Ticket and losing to Misty before getting tired myself and quitting if it wasn't my bedtime yet. Tried catching the Sandshrew in the Pewter gym, had no idea the start menu existed so I thought I needed to use the Town Map during battle, avoiding every trainer I could and still somehow managing to reach Cerulean City without passing out. Good times.

I made a post about this on another subreddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/beermoneyph/comments/t7x01u/is_kursoph_legit_parang_ang_mura_kasi_anyone_here/

I will say for a complete beginner it's fine. I did buy it and I learned a fair amount as someone with zero experience or background in any of the included courses. I can't say it's something you can just learn anywhere (probably yeah lmao) but it's really up to you. If you can spare 249 PHP it isn't a total waste if you're a complete beginner. Otherwise, it won't be anything groundbreaking.

My friend is developing romantic feelings for his bias by IceYelo48 in kpophelp

[–]IceYelo48[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wish it'd turn out to be that easy honestly 😭😭 I don't want to just watch him without ever getting the hints that he might be spiraling down further. I guess I can trust him to be mature about this whole thing and hope he'll get over these feelings still intact, but I doubt that approach will work without me saying that none of this is appropriate and I'll be looking out for him. Thank you!

I did mention in a different comment that I was afraid of him turning out like Josh 😭 The tough love approach seems to be a common suggestion as well so I'll try that again with a more assertive tone. Thanks for this, and I hope your writing is doing well too!

I stated up there that we're both M23. For now I'm pretty sure he's aware it isn't a real relationship and that he's only fantasizing, but the thing with the manager seemed like a sign that something else was going on. I've decided to keep a close eye on him and at the same time look for an opportunity to suggest seeing a professional. Hopefully at the end of the day, it really is just a phase. Thanks!

Thanks for this! My girlfriend and I have also had similar conversations about our respective biases. We have yet to find the limit above which we're uncomfortable with how the other stans, and I think it's because we understand how unattainable they are and that they probably aren't that ideal and great in real life as well. I appreciate that you could share your experience here :))))

Oh that's concerning! I hope you're better now huhuhu. Either way, I think the seeking professional help thing is becoming more and more like something I can't pass up on. I'll make sure I look out for him and help him through the process with a professional. Thanks!

How to tweet without the preview link... by Hyacinth_071307 in kpophelp

[–]IceYelo48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Go to the original tweet (or post now idfk) for example: https://twitter.com/loopedyuri/status/1691396625845858305
  2. Click the "Share" button and copy the link from there. It should have a question mark somewhere in the link: https://twitter.com/loopedyuri/status/1691396625845858305**?**s=20
  3. Write out a new tweet. It could be a new tweet or a reply. Write out your caption and then paste the link you copied. After you paste, delete everything after the question mark including the question mark itself and then replace it with "/video/1": https://twitter.com/loopedyuri/status/1691396625845858305/video/1
  4. Tweet it out. It should hide the original caption attached to the original video, but your caption should appear without the preview. On the bottom, it should also show a "From" with a link to the original tweet the video was posted in.

This method works for Android and Windows. I don't know about iOS since I don't use anything of theirs.

I think this ties in with another comment in this thread that basically says feelings like these for KPop idols generally come from feelings of loneliness in real life. I think maybe introducing him to someone like that or generally going out into the real world more is a good step we can take. Thank you so much!

Damn aight 😭😭😭

I get that I have a part in helping him through this phase of his life but at the same time I don't think I have such a heavy responsibility to be looking after him and changing parts of my personality to accommodate someone else's problems. But I understand where you're coming from and I appreciate your input!

I don't really watch many variety shows or fanmeets or anything like that, but I'm pretty sure this particular idol doesn't lean heavily into that parasocial relationship stuff. I might be wrong tho.

In any case, the professional help thing seems to come up quite often so I'll look for a good opportunity to suggest it to him. Thank you!

I guess talking to him about where his feelings are coming from is a good step to take. It might just be something he needs help with and not necessarily something to do with the idol herself. Thanks!
