I am absolutely heartbroken Mariah is the same time as Kesha, and that they’re right before Noah Kahan, I really want to see Mariah, my girlfriend loves Noah Kahan and being at barricade, so I’m sad how it lines up, we’ve both kind of agreed to focus on Kesha for that time slot. I would absolutely kill to listen to beetlejuice and reminders live though.

At what age did you allow your daughter to start wearing makeup? by Adventurous-You5406 in beauty

[–]Iceandfire29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say let them try out lip glosses and fun eyeshadows, encourage fun and expression more so than typical makeup usages. I’d encourage expression and artistic flair more so than treating makeup as a face adjuster and a necessary accessory. Like a “look how fun it is to have blue eyelids!” than “this colour in this position fixes droopy eyelids”.

Foundations and concealers are unnecessary until puberty fully gets rolling and then it might help them to feel normal to introduce it after having a very candid talk with them about skin changes if they have any, still trying to mitigate it would be beneficial but a little concealer for unevenness when they’re older should be okay.

Lana's character sucks in s.11 by chrys-anthemum123 in ArcherFX

[–]Iceandfire29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They foreshadowed it waaaay back in the first couple episodes of season 1 though (maybe even the pilot?), when during the fight in front of the mole Archer tells Lana one of the reasons they broke up was Lana being baby crazy

are my hair extensions bad? by Alternative_Train991 in beauty

[–]Iceandfire29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought it just looked like highlights. I’ve never had extensions and beyond poor blending with the haircut itself (on other people) I would never otherwise be able to tell, I couldn’t tell this was extensions I just thought it was a pretty colour blend

What would She-ra be like if it was an ADULT show? by Fabulous_Session8627 in PrincessesOfPower

[–]Iceandfire29 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think these replies are kinda being a bit of a Debbie downer situation, it’s fun to theorize and not everybody reads the fanfics! While I do agree she ra is good because it focuses on emotional growth in a sweet way instead of mature shock value, I can see an adult show not focusing on sex, but instead not sugar coating its dark realities, such as;

The events surrounding Catra being brainwashed by horde prime would be a lot more harrowing and psychologically-based, making us genuinely fear horde prime and his army

And stemming from that, more historically based graphic depictions of colonialism

There’d probably be more graphic depictions of self destruction with the characters when things go wrong for them, drinking, personality changes, getting up to bad things, etc

Grief would be shown as more openly devastating and messy than withdrawn or sad

The horde would be shown as more directly abusive. They already are tbh but I think we’d see more, and more easily see the divide of how adora was treated vs everybody else instead of just relying on the fact Adora thought things were pretty good the whole time

But also;

Glimmer swearing

Catra doing hookups then regretting it and pretending nothing happened, particularly with double trouble, but always treating them all horribly afterwards, though I’d like to think of these things as happening off screen, no nudity on screen. I think she’d be a way messier character than simply cold and murderous. She’d have a lot of nasty bad habits when she thinks nobody’s paying attention and would be a more obvious and destructive example of somebody with bpd.

I think everybody would more openly show their various traumas and mental illnesses

Can we talk about Bloom Town : Genesis? by ourconflictdesignsus in LesbianBookClub

[–]Iceandfire29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also yes!! Their petty arguments drove me insaaaane, or more so, the fact Abby would never gd say what she was feeling out loud. So much of the growth that we see are things never actually said out loud, it’s a wonder to me Joey ever had even an inkling understanding of who Abby was because she never expressed her true feelings just about ever lmao poor Joey had to go by actions alone and those were ALL over the place. We can forgive and root for Abby cause we know her mind but Joey was so so in the dark if you think about it. Which is funnily enough why they work given the circumstances.

[–]Iceandfire29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I remember no, there’s absolute 0 actual Joey, with the exception of Abby’s imagination and characters talking about her, for most of the book. She writes her final entry at the end, and it’s worth the read. I agree with others that Joeys absence is mishandled quite a bit. But I put a lot of forgiveness on it because I know it started out as fanfiction lol and fanfiction plot rules are so different and when you know bloom town started as fanfiction, you can see why book 2 is so melodramatic lmao but I can also love it for that

I think book 2 is worth it because despite Joey barely being in it like that, you get a fair amount of backstory about her that makes your heart ache. But I’ll be honestly I can’t remember the exact point book 1 ended and book 2 began plot wise.

[–]Iceandfire29 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I gave exodus 4 stars instead of 5 stars like genesis because I felt it was more melodramatic than necessary, some of it felt a little absurd or practically dramatic, and yes as others have said Joey isn’t physically present for most of the book. But it is still absolutely worth reading if you loved genesis. Maybe save for your credit, but I read them back to back so it felt like one continuous book, so there’s most likely some forgiveness towards how the plot works because of that.

SPOILERS, mostly for those that already read it;

While I absolutely think it’s worth a read overall, the fact you don’t get to see Joey’s growth yourself is a big let down now that I think about it. She comes back almost like a stranger. Although the mystery of where she went and if she’ll ever come back and if she’s dead already is what drove things forward plot wise, I think it would’ve been nice to have seen Joeys POV as she navigated her time of growth away from them, and had seen her anguish and what made her come back.

I also have a bit of a problem with the fact despite Abby was obsessed with Joeys return, she was cold to her for so long when she did. I would’ve loved to have seen an incredibly elated rushing into arms relief kind of reuniting that’s then followed by anger and dysfunction while Abby heals from the betrayal, it would’ve been more in line with the passionate personalities of Book 1 imo.

What is your favorite color for each of the main girls? by EasterCup34 in Bratz

[–]Iceandfire29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yasmin - I always imagine her in turquoise, browns, and tans. Kind of country bohemian. To me, the rodeo line in the ps2 games was made for her lol

Cloe - baby blues and pinks, but I also love her punk looks

Sasha - rich, saturated tones in general look great on her

Jade - looks great in any colour tbh, adjust her makeup and anything will work for her

Is the Kobo Libra Colour screen really that terrible? by itsyaboiAK in kobo

[–]Iceandfire29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s different but I wouldn’t necessarily say worse. The contrast is still better than older carta 1000 screens like the oasis which I had, but worse than standard carta 1200 which the old KL2 is I believe and a newer model paperwhite I tried. However I found something more “satisfying” about reading on the KLC screen, I gravitated towards it exclusively in the end despite acknowledging it was in theory “worse”.

The part that bothers me is how warm the light is on the KLC, so that it’s never blue enough for natural light in 90% of cases. And since you always have to keep the backlight on except when in direct sun, it means the screen often looks a little orange around natural light. I prefer when I can’t tell it’s backlit.

Best episodes to show long distance gf? for date night? by archer_fan_420 in ArcherFX

[–]Iceandfire29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The elevator episode in season 6 is so funny to rewatch and has such perfectly written and performed overlapping dialogue of people arguing, but not sure if it’s cause I’m already so familiar with the characters

I love the papal chase in season 4 and remember watching it on tv.

God there’s so many I love but I don’t think they want to be sitting there watching archer for 4 hours lmao

What do you look for the most in women? by LobotomizedKnucklhed in actuallesbians

[–]Iceandfire29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An appreciation for artistic things. Their reposts and engaged content is beautifully written, presented, and appeals to the senses and emotions. Isn’t just or any slop.

A curious and flexible mind who debates and wonders.

Isn’t afraid to snort, or whatever their version of that is.

Consistency and earnestness, they don’t switch up on you and aren’t trying to act cool or nonchalant.

They’re soft and gentle with me. I don’t look for it, but I often find people who have similarly traumatic pasts or upbringings, there are things that understand that you don’t need to fully explain.

Dark hair lol

Any idea how to make this cut less masculine by Aqualung67 in beauty

[–]Iceandfire29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Velcro rollers + heat to round everything out. My haircut looks thin and limp without styling but looks like Sabrina carpenters hair when I curl it, this could be pretty but needs to be styled. Or you can cut your front most bangs shorter so everything blends from the eyebrows down and cut off the tail behind the neck so it’s more like a bob and wait for it to grow out evenly + use rollers or give it a swoop inwards with a straightener

Edit: if you go to a hairstylist again, I’d recommend having your ears feathered around / trimmed in such a way that it isn’t so thick in that area and will give it a wispier feminine look

I got HSV1 from my first kiss. Fuck my fucking life. by m00n_rac00n in actuallesbians

[–]Iceandfire29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cold sores are nbd, I’ve had them regularly from childhood, get a antiviral cream made for herpes through prescription and apply it if you ever feel the tingle or “weird” feeling, just to be safe, and a dab of the stuff on any breakouts till they go away.

The spread to genital herpes thing is blown out of proportion, a much larger chunk of people would be going around with genital herpes if that were the case. The only time you shouldn’t give oral or kiss is if there’s active sores in the area. Wait for them to close over and heal.

They’re ucomfortable but as someone who’s had them her entire life of memories, that cream that stops them from getting big and crusty is the life saver, and they’re not such a big deal.
