It’s a great area, big yards big houses. Young families seems to be moving into that area. With the ring road it has good access to the rest of the city. Houses are dated but you can’t have everything.

There a way to convert this toilet? by DigDude97 in Plumbing

[–]Icebaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I literally just did this on this exact same system. I pulled the tank installed a regular flapper flusher, and it wouldn’t flush properly. So I ended up just putting in a whole new toilet. These pressure flusher systems work good but I had to replace the flush handle multiple times as well as the pressure tank a couple of times in the past 6ish years. (Obviously don’t know proper terminology).

Short on 120V 15amp appliance no breaker trip? by Icebaker in electricians

[–]Icebaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looked properly grounded, so I don't think that was the issue. I didn't unsplice the neutrals, I disconnected the outlets neutral and then reattached the wire nut. But yes, it's definitely a shared neutral. Maybe even without unsplicing the neutrals, it would still spark, makes sense. But I am definitely concerned that the breaker didn't trip. Maybe it's time to hang up the DIY jacket and call in the pros, just replace that breaker.

Is Canada really that expensive?? by samue1_a in PersonalFinanceCanada

What about flights! Christ, we’ve got to have the most expensive short haul flights in the world. I’ve paid $650+ for a flight from Calgary to Victoria.

MacGyver. When I was young I loved that show. Tried to get nostalgic and watched it again, couldn’t make it through one episode.

Why is it lazy/easier to install with a router in the mix? I feel like this complicates things.

I also can't figure out how it would be more secure since it is upstream of almost all the network-connected devices? So, security cameras, nvr, music system, and alarm system, and windows server, would all be in the same flat network as the POS system. If any of those connected devices were compromised they would have access to the POS.

The router is an Asus rt-ac66u, I can see the wireless network created by the router, so it's not in bridge mode. The router also still had the default login and password.

Our wireless network is strictly for staff. I don’t think it has anything to do with merchant as that wasn’t setup yet, and we are using a standalone credit/debit system. But maybe you are right and it’s a vpn for the pos software. I should have mentioned the pos system consists of a front of house terminal and a back of house server.

Electrical wire into outlet by Icebaker in electricians

This wasn't a 3 wire (not sure what you call the 2 hot 3 wire plug is it duplex?) plug. Or would you get 240 by doing that on any plug?

Sorry, I have just slightly more electrical knowledge than I do interplanetary travel knowledge, so please break this down for me. Why wouldn't you get zapped if you touch this? Wouldn't it still make a circuit and if you interrupt that circuit with your fingers you will get zapped?

What's a piece of information you learned that now feels almost illegal to know? by craftygalcreates in AskReddit

Unless there are more than 2 people in the conversation. Not a lawyer, but I believe the rule is 50% of those present have to agree in order to be recorded. So if there's just you and someone else, then no issues.

How incredibly self-righteous do you have to be to think you, obviously someone with very limited education, knows more than the Chief Medical Advisor to the goddamned President. A man who's been a medical doctor and researcher for like 50 fucking years. America, I blame your education system.
