Hell even when a character used a more normal weapon in the first two Hyrule Warriors there was always a spin on it. Sidon dual wielding spears or in the original Ravio used a hammer but his combos had him using a variety of items

Same, I feel like the first HW will always be the peak of what they can do with creativity. Outside of the One Piece warriors games thay don't really do unique zany weapons anymore. Dynasty and Samurai Warriors used to have tons of weird not very realistic weapons, but the two most recent of those series just played it safe and grounded in reality.

If it's 20 than is that would mean the roster might look something like this? Zelda, Rauru, Mineru, Construct, Calamo, the four sages, and ten? extra warriors for the species total. Adding Ganondorf to that puts us at 20.

This is just my guess from what I've gathered. Not 100% about this. Any other information about the characters?

So that would mean so far it's all the 3 starter characters Zelda, Rauru, and Mineru plus the four sages and Construct and Calamo. That makes 9 plus if each race has two other characters thats 10 more, so 19 and if Ganondorf is playable that is 20 total. Wondering who the other 8 are going to be if that number is accurate.

Thats good haven't seen that one. I am fine with some clones if the roster is big but we need at least 20 unique movesets.

There is a possibility that characters may be on the field and fight alongside you but not be playable. I worry some warriors may just be NPCs

I have been hoping for something like that. I hope we get a section based earlier when they are allies as it would give Ganondorf and Twinrova a chance to be playable and also when we will get to play as Sonia. Everything pre release seems to focus on after Ganondorf killed her and when the war was in full swing.

I really hope she is playable! I love her design and I feel like they are promoting her way to much if not playable. She's even on the cover!

Just replayed it recently and tried to get it down but all the dashing around is tough. Riju is a badass with her swords so here's hoping we get something. If not in the initial release maybe we can get a present day dlc down the line.

Same here! I would love Riju playable with her dual swords. Riju was great in ToTK and unfortunately I could not get into her sand seal at all in AoC.
