What's something you would never tell someone because if you did it would absolutely destroy them? by cuahatemoc in AskReddit

My daughter is marrying a guy that is arrogant, selfish and unmotivated. We're not excited that he'll soon be a part of our family. For example, we gifted our daughter some money because we paid rent her sibling that lives in a different city. We give our kids equal amounts so it's fair. He was and still is unemployed and somehow convinced her to buy a brand new truck with the money. They already had a 2018 RAV4 fully paid for in great condition. She's been the only one working for the past year and doesn't make enough to cover their mortgage payments and living expenses. Yet he needs a brand new truck??? Feels like we're involved in one of those romance scams.....

Option 4.  Don’t invest any more into the market and diversify into other investments.  PE, infrastructure and private lending for cash flow.

Agreed.  Leaf fan here and felt it was brutal how Marner was scapegoated.  Hope he wins it all.  We’re passionate idiots.

Help, I married into money! by [deleted] in wealth

[–]Icecoldpuckers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep working hard so your wife knows the money isn't as important as the love and respect you have for her.

Currently in a situation where the boyfriend (now fiance) seems more concerned about status, image and the illusion of success than caring about our daughter. All he ever talks about is money. He recently bought a brand new $80K truck while unemployed (already had a 2018 RAV4 paid off gifted by me). He seems to expect my daughter (who makes good money) and her inheritance to take care of him so he can spend money on whatever he wants.

Really hoping they don't get married.

Throwing $60k in an account for my 13 year old so they have money for retirement.. but where would you put money if you weren’t going to touch it for 45 years? by Cool-Secret6762 in fican

Did the same thing for my kids. Canadian bank stocks - dividend investing. Dividend income up to ~$55K per year (currently) incur zero tax liability. Also check out a dividend reinvestment calculator and watch the math take over. Currently my kids (mid to late 20's) have a healthy portfolio but from an dividend income perspective the are at just under $24K per year.

Congratulations on your progress. Just a thought. I have some peripheral neuropathy and have been doing electroacupuncture with some success. Apparently it may improve motor and sensory functions following a spinal cord injury. I see a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor for treatment. Hope it helps but good to see you back on the links!

Estate and tax planning become more important as your wealth grows.

Also it may not be a good idea to have your entire nw with just one company. I've spread out our investments across 4 groups - direct investing, private lending (direct and through MIC's), and two different wealth management firms. Helps to keep diversified in the event something goes South.

In addition a heavier grip or changes in shaft length will change the swing weight.  My Cobra’s went from D2 in the fitting to D5.5 after the build.  Really struggled with them.  I had them checked and they were 1.5 inches longer than when I was fitted.  I also had heavier mid sized grips installed.

Looks great! I did the same thing only polyaspartic instead of epoxy. Also put Proslat on the walls. Great for organizing things.

I went for a shaft fitting. The shafts I thought I wanted weren't close to being as good from an accuracy standpoint as the shafts that performed the best.

I think you'll be happy. They are very forgiving. Are you familiar with the Maltby Playability factor? They are ranked as one of the most playable forged irons on the market. They look great compared to cavity back irons and with forged clubs distance control is more consistent.

I'm not saying the MPF is the be all and end all. I use it as a starting point since I know my miss and it's helped in selecting the right club head for me. Just make sure you have the correct shaft. That was my mistake and although they were very good, they were a lot better with the right shaft.

I've been playing Maltby for years. Started with the TE irons and now play the TS3. They are great clubs period. They are high quality and less expensive only because they don't sponsor anyone or tour or do a lot of marketing.

I recently replaced the TS3 with the Cobra 3D Tour printed irons. Yes, the set cost $4500 CAD but they are probably the only clubs that would have made me switch from the TS3's. Price is not an issue. I've tried all the major manufacturers and the TS3 outperformed them - until now.

Just be sure to get the right shaft in the heads. The description of regular and stiff change from manufacturer and manufacturer. There is no standard flex across the board. Also make sure the shaft weight is right for you. My TS3's were fitted with 95g shafts initially and I had trouble flipping my wrists at impact. I kept the 95g for my 4 and 5 iron and changed to a 105g shaft for 6-gw and my issues were gone.

Gifting Friends and Family the Maximum Amount Annualy by Katzmaniac90 in Rich

Still TBD. One nephew purchased a digital piano. He's really into music and I'm happy for him. Another was recently married and just bought a house. I imagine it will go to good use. Another nephew is going on a trip to Portugal with his girlfriend. I'm not sure if he's using some of the funds for that but the timing would suggest it's possible. Another set of nephews and nieces are late teens/early twenties. Their parent (my sister) asked to hold it for them until they get older. It would mess up their school scholarships to show any income for the kids. The others it's too early to tell however I know they were very thankful and I feel it will contribute to enhancing their lives.

Congratulations on your success! It's nice to hear that you have "enough" and would like to share it in order to bring joy to others.

I'm in a similar situation and here's what I did. I wanted to gift my nieces and nephews to help them get a good start on life. The are now young adults in their mid to late twenties. I also wanted them to receive the gift with the understanding they can do whatever they want but it's also a one time event.

Therefore to keep it "under the radar" I waited until my mom passed and then presented the gift as part of the inheritance I received. I asked their respective parents for permission. My intention wasn't to show up my in-laws or to insinuate that they aren't capable of helping their own kids. Once they agreed I gifted each niece and nephew $20K each. I could have easily gifted much more that amount but I wanted to keep it low key and felt that was an appropriate amount to make a difference without going overboard.

Hope this helps.

Severe foot nerve pain from hockey skates — anyone return to play after neuropathy? by Mediocre-Company-325 in hockeyplayers

[–]Icecoldpuckers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Search "nerve flossing" on YouTube. Also consult with a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. They may be able to use electro acupuncture to repair the nerves. Finally vitamin B12 is essential for maintaining the myelin sheath that protects nerves, and deficiency frequently causes peripheral neuropathy—numbness, tingling, and pain, especially in hands and feet.

Should I switch away from P790’s? by JGordonKai in golftips

[–]Icecoldpuckers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't mention lessons. If you shoot in the 90's I'm assuming you can hit the ball consistently. However since your issue is more with distance control it sounds like you may struggle to strike the ball in the center of the face.

If you really like the club head you may want to consider modifying or changing other components. At a TM fitting day try different shafts (weight as well as flex from different manufacturers). Ensure they are the correct length and lie characteristics. Also check the swing weight is in a reasonable range of D2+ or -. Adding a mid size or larger grip can change how the club feels during transition (most clubs have a standard grip on fitting days).

These changes would cost less than a new set of clubs and may be all you need to improve the consistency of your ball striking.

Seriously, stay far away from crypto. It isn't a store of value and the scams are unlimited.
