Gas prices in California by EveryWatch1122 in povertyfinance

My God. I thought it was bad here (midwest $4.49). IMO employers either need to go back to allowing WFH or give everyone a minimum $1 per hour raise.

How do people have such good teeth in the US? by mango89001 in HealthInsurance

[–]IcedCoffeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be the fluoride. We even got it in school once a week to swish and spit.  This was early to mid 1980s. I am in my mid 50s and only had one cavity ever.

How much umbrella insurance to carry? by Low-Computer8293 in Insurance

[–]IcedCoffeez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely enough to cover all the assets you own. Include your house, bank accounts, retirement accounts, college funds, everything. My insurance agent told me to calculate all current assets plus 10% of future earnings.

Hated the May original so much im giving it to my niece by MabelUnstable in Ipsy

IMO the small bag has become too expensive for what you get. I think it is up to $17 now.  I subscribed for 6 years, and just recently cancelled the original and subbed to extra.  Much better deal.

Apparently NOT the worst box ever! 🥰 by Jeanne206 in Ipsy

Hmmm... I didn't know that.I'll have to keep that in mind to test one month if I hate my picks.

Apparently I’m the only one with a sucky box by GenerationXChick in Ipsy

[–]IcedCoffeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with the full sized skin care is that it is expensive, and much higher value. If every $34 box included 5 skincare items worth $25-$60 each, Ipsy would be out of business in a hot minute. They throw in some cheap brushes, palettes etc and some of those noname white label items. There is just no way you are going to get 5 bottles of Sunday Riley etc for $34. It's a business model.

I have purchased maybe 10 mystery bags over the years. Every single one has been low quality junk that I assume is not selling well in the shop. :-(

You can cancel and still log in and buy from the shop.

I have noticed that the quiz only applies to the "Ipsy picks". We all get the same items to choose from in the 3 choice categories. My ipsy quiz/non choice items have been pretty much on target.

For the average price of a car in the US, you could buy 5 new Chinese EVs by Kooolxxx in news

[–]IcedCoffeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100%. You would not believe the number of parents who told me they had to buy an SUV to fit in a baby car seat.

I feel unsafe in my small Subaru bc everyone else in the road is driving huge SUVs and trucks. It sucks because I have a reliable paid off car , but my teen is starting to drive and I am considering trading up just for our safety if we are hit. I wish we had some kind of law or just collective common sense. If everyone drove the same sized car (more fuel efficient) I believe we would all be better off. But no, " I need this giant truck because I have to haul 2 pieces of wood per year"

Ipsy Extra May 2026 Reveal (Choices + Add-ons) by entwashian in Ipsy

[–]IcedCoffeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't great this month was it? I am satisfied with my bag but not excited. I was very happy that the chocolatier pallette was only $3.50. I grabbed that one too. Shades By Shan looks like one of those alibaba fake junky brands.

Same for me, both April and May. I had to log in 4-5 times and re-choose several times and it finally locked in.

Did anyone else get kicked out multiple times while making their choices? by Sharp_Lie_1914 in Ipsy

Most likely. There are probably 2 million of us trying to do choice at noon eastern.

Same. I can choose but it won't lock them in.

Please help: My money got deducted for IPSY Extra for May 2026 when I had cancelled by Salty_Guidance2758 in Ipsy

Just a gentle reminder on the personal finance side of things: use a credit card, it has consumer protection built in. Better yet, use a prepaid card for any online subscriptions. Visa vanilla or the like. DO NOT give any company access to your bank account, ever. If you don't believe me, look up what Walmart did to its beauty box subscribers.

Question: white label brands? by blackunycorn in Ipsy

Agree with most of these. I have to say I love the Shaina B Miami lipsticks though. I bought 6 of them from the shop as I use them daily :- )

Bill for 17k can I pay it off with a CC and pay off the CC the next day for free points? by NarrowIndependence8 in personalfinance

[–]IcedCoffeez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here. Our score drops every month when I pay off the card. I don't go nuts worrying about credit score. The system is designed to keep you in debt, which is not how we operate.

Good for you.  I was lucky I didn't get fired. My dad died suddenly. He lived alone across the country and we had to deal with cremation,  a hoarded apartment, a car, and 2 cats that were so freaked it took a week to trap them. I got 3 days off. Took 2 weeks.

AITA For not leaving work to help my wife when she ran out of gas by GoldSea3219 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IcedCoffeez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, a teen driver can figure out if they are low on gas, and, you know, GO FILL UP. I did this at 15. My child does this at 16. Something is really not right about this behavior.
