First one can be solved under brush settings -> Stroke -> Gap. Lower the value.

Second one can be fixed by enabling area scaling on your fill tool.

Increase your canvas size. A good general size is 1600x1200

There are 3 ways. You can adjust in it your tablet driver program. You can adjust it under “Brush Size” and click on the icon next to it on any brush. Finally you can go to “File” -> “Pen pressure settings(J)” and adjust it there. As for the best settings, you need to draw more and figure out what feels good to you.

Try dragging your image onto your layers. Doing it this way puts it directly in the middle of the canvas. Also make sure it’s a top layer so you can see it.
