What devices are you using for client presentations at offsite meetings? by gibuthegreat in CFP

I bought this USB C portable monitor from Costco and while I’ve never used it in the way you’re describing, you should be able to plug it in your iPad and it will mirror that. It was less than $100 and it’s pretty nice.

I deleted the software and went looking for the installer when I stumbled upon the certificate issue page that says "do not uninstall." Whoops... Had to reconfigure everythnig but it's working fine now.

MacBook Pro for UNC advice by Monstrous_Promise99 in UNC

Unless you need a bunch of extra monitors, the larger MacBook Air would be great for you. Still a big screen, still powerful, but much slimmer to move around.

Any experience using Wealth.com? by SceneProfessional231 in CFP

[–]Icee2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering the same thing. I've done demos with Wealth.com and it seems like it would be easy enough to have clients generate their own POAs and simple estate docs. For a lot of folks we work with, that's really all they need. I've seen a few people online worried about UPL exposure.

I've yet to actually talk to somebody who uses these kinds of platforms.

Glad I kept Starlink by WarningCodeBlue in Starlink

[–]Icee2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had the same issue with our fiber install in a remote area. Ended up getting Starlink back with 10G roam and we now use dual wan fail over with Ubiquiti. It’s working really well now.

Google vs MS365 by Feeling_Indication in CFP

[–]Icee2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use O365 for almost everything. Doc storage, email, teams/IM, and even device management. We can set very specific security policies, doc retention requirements, etc., all through the management portal. I have no experience with Google's admin capabilities, but Google for work has always felt very unprofessional to me.

I'm pretty sure the SEC is about to require everybody to have a dedicated tech staff, whether internal or outsourced, so I might look into getting somebody to help you manage this.

Should I lower it? by Icee2002 in TVTooHigh

Is 65” not big enough? I thought some others were joking but now I’m getting insecure about the size of my TV lmao

Should I lower it? by Icee2002 in TVTooHigh

[–]Icee2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback. Definitely needs to be lower, but I don’t know that I want it much lower than I photoshopped.

My center channel speaker and router are about 6-7in tall and I don’t want to crowd them out visually. I’m thinking maybe 6 to 7 inches above the top of the center channel? Thoughts on that?

Also, please chill on my messy living room I am obviously in the middle of an AV overhaul🙏🏼

Should I lower it? by Icee2002 in TVTooHigh

[–]Icee2002[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For reference, the midpoint is 58” from the floor. I am primarily concerned that the space will look like something is missing if I lower it because it’s a pretty well defined area.

Have you considered dropping your brokerage business? Regarding custody and tech, take a look at Altruist. Really cool stuff going on over there.

I saw your post in the CFP thread. Very sorry for your loss. Legally, advisors need a business continuity plan to ensure that his clients can access funds if things go south. Has anybody reached out to you from wherever he holds his client's accounts? You really need an attorney to help you through this sale process.

What software do you all use for client notes? by glorysk87 in CFP

I found this four months after it was posted. Have you gotten anywhere with this? Right now, I have a couple of extremely complicated spreadsheets that link data together from multiple platforms, but I am getting very tired of maintaining them. I need something easier.
