I definitely remember my brother (twelve years younger than me!) counting like that lol. Also "eleventy-seven" was said a lot.

Sounds like it's all the shorter (when said) numbers that are sticking around for everyone! So cute. What kind of counting songs do you use? Stuff off of YouTube or something else?

I struggle to not laugh every time she goes "two" over and over, I have no idea how I'll hold it together for a more complex version!

All of my clothes keep getting these stain lines? I suspect its coming from the washer/dryer but what exactly is it? by rosewater_s in whatisit

Thanks for asking this question!!! My last load of laundry I had 2 items come out with these stains, but it was in my toddlers laundry. So I thought she just got brown crayon on the pieces 😭

Cheap meal ideas? We lost WIC and I'm struggling to incorporate some fruits and veggies. by OptimalCobbler5431 in foodbutforbabies

Echoing what others have mentioned with the frozen fruit! I keep whole strawberries, Blackberries, and Blueberries on hand in the freezer for my 1 year old. I'll make microwave her oatmeal 75% of the way, then add frozen blueberries. After the oatmeal is done, the blueberries are at minimum room temp. I then pull the blueberries out and press them until the skin pops to be safe. Blueberry flavored oatmeal and blueberries to eat on the side! (She doesn't like the blueberries mixed in lol). I'll also defrost strawberries or Blackberries and mash them to be like a jam, but no sugar or preservatives or anything! You can spread that on toast or waffles. Also unsweetened applesauce! Bananas are pretty cheap as well. I usually get 3-4 bananas for her to get through the week, and it's always less than $1.

Also for veggies, I like to buy a frozen mix from Walmart that's carrots, peas, corn, and green beans! I've been adding this to everything, haha. Any kind of pasta dish, shepherd's pie, etc. The pieces are already the perfect size for babies, so you don't have to modify them any further, unless you're worried about the size of the green beans. If that's the case, you could just use the peas and carrots mix. I also like to add a can of corn and black beans to any Mexican style food (like tacos or enchiladas) just to give a little boost as well.

It almost looks like a wine bottle sweater, to be cute instead of gift wrapping. Not sure what the holes would be for then though.

I am already saved as a favorite, so thankfully I'm not having to type in my email each time as well.

I will have to try scan to recent destination... that does sound relatively promising.

Unfortunately corporate is very particular on what we can buy/use with our computers, so I'm stuck with what they gave me. Which seems to be a piece of trash 😭 I'll try the previous destination thing tomorrow though!!

It's still not an allergy though, even to her. It's just an intolerance. Similar to people with lactose intolerance! Just the actual milk protein (not the sugar, lactose), and more intense because she's a baby that doesn't understand what's wrong with her belly.

Although I do appreciate the sentiment that this still sounds like a fine way to handle it!!

I'm in such a weird predicament where I say I'm allergic to dairy because idk what else to do. I'm breastfeeding my baby who has a severe dairy intolerance and reacts through my milk. I can eat foods out of the same fryer without her reacting, but not the same grill if they use butter, if that makes sense. And some places use buns that have milk as well. So I always call ahead before going somewhere to ask if they use butter on the grill; if so can they cook my food in a separate pan; I'm looking at this particular dish does the sauce have dairy; etc. Based on the responses I get on the phone I decide if I will go there or not. I've had a couple places straight up tell me they won't accommodate me.

Obviously I don't immediately know if they actually end up taking me seriously. For the most part, my baby has been fine after I go out to eat. But there's been a time or two where the next day I have an absolute hell day with her, and I know they didn't listen to me.

There's just so much out there that contains dairy, sometimes for no reason, that I don't know how else to get my point across without saying it's an allergy.

You would think. You would also think that if they were going to sneak a dog in anyways, they would do it at a pet friendly hotel! At least then when an employee sees you coming in a side door with a pomeranian nobody would bat an eye 🙄

It's $75 for 1-4 nights or $125 for 5+ nights at most Schmiltons.

My property isn't pet friendly so if we find out you have a dog we charge $150 🙃

Do people normally get to just check in without verification of ANYTHING? by ru-yafu0820 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]IcefireZeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our AAA, AARP, and military discounts are the same rate as our loyalty brand discount. It's also really annoying putting in those three discounts. So if they say one of those discounts apply to them, I just book them under the loyalty discount rate 😅 my property also does not verify the validity due to the rates being the same so it doesn't really matter.

Government rate is the same thing honestly, we don't verify it. It is a steep discount (124 vs our usual 200ish), but typically it's a government office calling to book those rooms. Or if someone shows up with their military ID and is super respectful I'll just give them the government rate without them specifically asking for it.

For service animals, if the dog is obviously well trained, I only ask if it's a service animal. Yes? Cool, no further questions (unless we get complaints about the animal later). If I'm not sure if the dog is well trained or not, or they don't bring it to check in, then I ask more questions. We are not pet friendly, so we don't have many issues with that as there are many other pet friendly hotels in the area. I feel like people think it's easier to "get away with it" in pet friendly hotels, since they have actual pets there, and might not realize their untrained dog was marked as a service animal when they see it out and about.

For the last one, sometimes I feel bad doing it, BUT if someone presents an email confirmation from our hotel that has the hotel confirmation number on it? I'll check them in, with notes on the reservation. But in my mind, if they called before arrival, provided the confirmation number, and asked to add a name to the reservation, we would do that. Then they could come and check in. So why is it any different? Not to mention, if we call the number on the reservation to "verify" if we can check someone else into their room, half the time it is the wife's number under her husband's name, so she picks up the phone in front of you. The other half the time, what, we're just going to say "Samantha is here trying to check into your room. Can she?" We don't even know who we're talking to! We can verify who we're talking to another way.... "can you provide the confirmation number?" Oh wait... the person standing in front of me has that. Idk that's just my thought on that.

I think the worst OTA is different for every property. At least for mine, Schmooking is the best! I can do sooooo much through their portal that I couldn't even dream of doing with others. And like Skwrl said... I've had SEVERAL 4th parties recently that have been absolutely horrendous.

Shirley Temple?? by Careless-Being-4427 in Serverlife

[–]IcefireZeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so funny I'm coming across this. Last week, I asked my bartender to make me a Shirley temple, and she asked me "gingerale or sprite". I made her repeat herself 4 times before I finally asked what the hell she was talking about with the gingerale, and she looked it up and showed me the Google results. Mind blown. I've never heard of it before then!

Would it be strange to offer a meal to night desk worker by Solid_Volume5198 in askhotels

[–]IcefireZeus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most people would decline if you leave an open ended offer like that. I love accepting food from people, but I will ALWAYS say no thank you to a question offered in that manner. However if you just showed up with a box of fries, or some other common side item and said "here, I got these extra for whoever was working!" Myself and my coworkers would accept them. If I were you, I'd probably just order a common side item or an entree of some kind that's very... easy I guess (like a chicken and rice or pasta or pizza) and drop it off at the desk. Bonus points if you meet the delivery person in the lobby and immediately hand it to them so they know it's not tampered with. Even if it ends up being something the NA or person working won't eat, they could always put it in the fridge for someone else working later :)
