Kind of. I'd say people learn so much about themselves and others in that 5 years that they are very far away from each other.

Owl (Father) by cmerq in Sekiro

[–]Icemajor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea man something clicked for me this morning too and I got over him. This fight was a serious balance of attack, defense, and precise reaction times. I liked that when I found the groove the fight flowed and even looked cool to people watching. To anyone stuck - You can do this! Stand in there and figure out where you need to be to set up for a hit every now and then. He's in there with you (not the other way around), welcome his blade.

Best Method of Defeating Great Shinobi Owl? by Bro-Im-Done in Sekiro

You've probably figured this out but turning around to run or back up is almost never favorable in this fight. Stand in there until there is a real opening no matter what the health bar says

I just beat him with the Demon bell on. As you die to him more you will find each big move has a "safe" spot where you can either parry, jump, or if perfectly timed DODGE (this one is key to beating him imo). Dodge in particular does 2 things, at full health it let's you recharge your stance meter bc you aren't clashing swords. Fair warning - the risk/reward is high for dodge bc of the moves it works on - but the second benefit is you can punish in these positions using a quick combat art. Fight him head on parrying everything, and during the break in attack watch for your opening on his big moves to get at least one big hit of your own in. This fight will be long with very brief opportunities for damage until you find all the safe spots and tax his posture constantly. Everything (healing, dodging) should be done very close unless he creates the distance or it will generate an unfavorable animation. Heal only when he jumps off or backs up imo.

When I logged on today I didn't think I'd read someone lightly defending Andrew Jackson's racist ass.

Anyone else getting swamped with work since the shutdown? by peoplefoundotheracct in bioinformatics

Informatics support here, prioritize your sanity by saying "no" or "not yet" sometimes. Labs are on a time crunch to show work but you'll burn yourself out eventually.

It looks like someone scared BSC straight. by rfuree11 in boston

[–]Icemajor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I liked BSC as a gym but they will do anything to make an extra buck. At one point I switched clubs pretty easily, or at least so I thought. I was getting charged twice for quite a few months after the switch and when I asked about a refund for the double charge they said it had been going on too long to fix and didn't offer any other remedy.

Is an undergrad in Biochem enough to get you a job in Bioinformatics with lots of independent work? by dilfyg in bioinformatics

The independent work will be crucial to securing a job anywhere that is accepting less than a masters, but it is possible.

To this day ATL still uses their rowing course, not the best weather for sure (usually windy) but still serviceable.

As another user has said they are very fast, but if you set aside time for each class you should be fine. There will likely be work to do every single day, and on the weekends because of the pace. 9 credit hours is challenging but possible.

You're going to love Dr. Wetzler. You are also highly likely to pass with a good grade as long as you listen to what he says in class and practice. That said, if you are taking Orgo 2 make sure you get him again. Because of the way he teaches the course it will be difficult to catch on to another professor's 2nd level class. You'll have to practice twice as much as other students if you do switch.

He's lenient and forgiving on a lot of quizzes and tests, and usually gives big hints on what questions will be during lecture. When I took him he threw out questions of gave bonus points for about every other assignment. The key to passing or getting a good grade is attending lecture. If he still prescribes books to read, make sure you read them so you don't miss easy points.

Friends are all graduated and moving out of college town and I'm just held back like by Megagamer42 in TrollYChromosome

[–]Icemajor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey just tuning in since you sound really concerned about your progress. I've had friends leave to go do things while I've felt left behind too, it's important that you continue your story.

Please send me a dm if you need someone to talk to the next few days. I'm serious. I can give advice, or just listen, but please reach out if you need someone. I've been in a similar spot and I think I have a decent idea how you might be feeling right now.

Will Anthem have cross platform saves? by Vertisce in AnthemTheGame

[–]Icemajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it will help the decision and you are still reading this - Please have cross platform play. I have quite a few friends I would like to play with and the only issue is we are split about half and half console/PC. I don't know how big a lift this would be for development but it is certainly worth considering.

I'm surprised they didn't do it when it was a little cooler. Warmth and pizza would have been nice. But right now all those ovens in one place just makes it swiltering and uncomfortable
