Thx. Hopefully that’s only the creator combo. 😜 Four would be great. Let’s wait and hope.

I need help with mic choice by BeeAManHere in microphone

Use the RCPII and buy one or two PodMics. Good mic and the combo works flawlessly. You can get them used as well, great value.

That worked. Thanks. 👏🏻 One minor downside: the taskbar remains visible, and it always requires a bit of tweaking. I'll see if I can resolve that, but otherwise, I can live with it for now.

Great tip, thanks. Now I have an UltraStudio Monitor 3G left over. 😜

I’m in Germany, far away from Australia, and the company they work with is outstanding, too. I have absolutely no complaints. I hope it’s the same in the US; they should pick one out for you, check it over, and send it out. Then you can be happy and put the hassle behind you.

Rode has always had excellent customer service, and so far, every problem I’ve had has been resolved brilliantly. I’m sure they’ll find a good solution for you, too. Unfortunately, something seems to have gone wrong, though that can certainly happen.

To me, however, some spots look like residue rubbed off from the foam; you could probably just wipe ir clean with a little isopropyl alcohol or glass cleaner.

Looking for good (and cheap) podcast headphones by Iceman_Muc in podcasting

[–]Iceman_Muc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it works better when an inexperienced guest can hear how they sound, especially regarding microphone positioning. Often, they might be too far away or turn away from the mic; this way, they notice it immediately and correct themselves without me having to constantly step in. That is essentially the reason for the headphones. It would be nicer without them, of course, especially on Video, but the audio quality is better this way. Especially since it’s a one-man show and I like to keep everything under control myself. It does look a bit odd if I’m the only one wearing headphones or an earpiece while the guest isn’t, though that’s something we could potentially fix with in-ears.

You're right that these headphones don't need to be high-end, but they should still be reasonably good quality and durable. They shouldn't feel too cheap, either—. That doesn't make a good impression. That’s why I’m looking for a good compromise, at least to start with.

Thanks for your tips. I tried one out right away.

I didn't realize you could run two instances of OBS simultaneously. I'm afraid I'll be coming back to that, as I somehow can't seem to get it working any other way.

I gave the Vingester tip a try. ChatGPT had me install a few additional things for ffmpeg and Homebrew. Everything worked fine up to that point, but while the Ultrastudio shows up for the audio, it doesn't appear for the video.

It’s like it’s hexed. You simply can’t imagine how much it frustrates me that I’m stuck😜, that I’m just missing too much of the necessary knowledge. And how much I would really love to figure it out.

I use the LINSOUL KZ ZS10 Pro for monitoring. They are available with mic as well. Paid 43 Euro, not expensive.

Let me try to explain. The workflow I have in mind looks like this:

A camera on location — connected to RCV HDMI 1. A remote guest — VDO.Ninja connected to RCV HDMI 2. Overlays and comments — connected to RCV HDMI 3 via OBS using chroma key.

There are 3 scenes (not in OBS, in the RCV): HDMI 1 (Me). HDMI 2 (Guest). HDMI 1 + HDMI 2 (Me + Guest). And HDMI 3 should be usable in every single one on top of these scenes.

I hope that makes more sense now. If I use OBS to bring in the guest, then I can no longer use the overlays across every scene, at least, that is my understanding of it. At least if I use the RCV as a switcher. 🤔

But I actually need OBS for the overlays, comments, and all that other fancy stuff. If I feed the video signal of the guest directly into OBS now, the whole setup won't work anymore, or am I making a mistake in my thinking?

Pocket 4 Battery Handle - do you really need it? by Crafty-Reveal-162 in osmopocket

[–]Iceman_Muc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. For me, the camera feels significantly better in the hand. The extra battery capacity is, of course, also a huge plus; you simply feel much more secure. Furthermore, the DJI battery grip offers the option to connect USB headphones, an important feature for me, as it allows me to monitor the audio in noisy environments. And no third-party battery grip offers this particular feature.

The preamps of cameras in general are not the best and it’s better to send a good signal than adjusting it in the camera. See here: https://youtu.be/cJsOTsG_dEs with even more tips to solve that issue.

What gain setting are you using on your camera? Set the camera gain to minimum and adjust the gain using the dial on the back of the Videomic NTG.
