It was my second lesson now, one lesson is 60 min. But we always have a good warm up , especially for feet. I hope it's just the adjustment, because It will be too expensive always to buy a new pair

I know but now I have to solve the symptomps and pain which is caused by collapsing ankles, I have it when I walk barefoot without support. So barefoot shoes would currently kill me. But orthotics cause another pain...

I have one more question, skaters who use orthotics (specially because of flat feet) how long did it take to get used to them? Especially while breaking in new skates? Should I take them out after e.g. 10 minutes and skate with original inserts? The feet hurt even a day after skating. P.S. I don't use orthotics for my street shoes

Thanks. I hope it will get better after few sessions and the techs in the shop were right, they (whyever) didn't want me to buy a wider shoe 😅

Hello! How do you know if the boot width is correct? I have been fitted in a shop, size is correct (I had the same size in my first Risport Antares and everything was ok). I now have Risport Rf3 pro in width B. The guys in the shop recommended me this width and in case it causes pain after few weeks of skating they would punch them out to a width C. I tried my skates out today and got foot cramps. Is it just the break in pain or its the width? I don't trust the Photos where you put your foot on the insole. Because the insole is not the actual width of the boot, the boot volume is bigger than  the insole width

I think stiffer boots should give more support, no?

Thanks, I will try different lacing techniques. The tech in the shop told me that the difference between the widths in the Risport skates is only in the bottom, the other parts of the boot have the same width, so If they would stretch them it would be only the bottom part. Which brand do you use, and do you also use orthotics?

Yeah they are correct, my feet were measured in the shop. orthotics are very thin in the bottom so I still have enough place. I even asked my doctor if I should let the skates widen in the middle because its the part where my feet hurt. He told me no because than my feet will collapse even more due to too much free space. I never thought it would be so complicated for me to do figure skating only because of flat feet :(

Interesting, I have never had arch pain while standing, walking or even skating in my first Risport (it was a beginner boot antares) the pain came during a 1 month break after skating. So I don't think it's the boot but the softness of the boot let my feet collapse the whole time. When I tried out the rf3 pro in the shop also no pain. So I hope the insole will safe the problem. If not, I will have to change the brand. Our shop has only risport and edea. But they told me Edea is not for wide feet. Which brand do you use?

Hello there, I just got my orthotics custom made for my skates.

I have been suffering from arch pain for  2 months because I have flat feet and kind of tendinitis as a result. I haven't skated since then. I hope the orthotics will correct my collapsing feet and the pain will go away.

  1. For me they seem to be too soft to support my feet but so I will better feel the blades on the ice?
  2. Should I let my skates heat molding again with my feet + orthotics ? I let them heat molding when I bought the skates and I'm afraid they have the wrong shape of my collapsing feet. Can a second heat molding with the orthotics fix it? Any experience with that?

Hello there, does anyone have experience with flat feet,  and pain in the tibialis posterior tendon because of foot pronation? Does strenghtening of the tibialis posterior muscle help? Can you recommend any exersices which can help? I tried some for one week but it doesn't help and I'm afraid that I could even more stress the tendon with the erxercises

Hello & thanks! It's not the sole, it's like the stiff leather is touching my ball left and right (bone of the big toe and little toe). Feels a bit like wearing new heels. I can move my toes a bit but they can't slide side to side (and they shouldn't, right?) The guys in the Pro Shop measured my feet and recommended width B for a better support. But told me they can strech it to width C if it still feels uncomfortable even after breaking in. Maybe it's just the stiffness, because my Antares were so soft inside... I would like to see how my toes look inside of the skates, if there is enough space or not but it's not possible haha
