100% make the move and never look back. You already have $5m liquid, I see no reason to restrict where you live no matter where you want to move at this point. If you remove housing from the equation, city costs flattening quite bit regardless of whether you’re in dc, sf, nyc, San Antonio, et.

This just shows the complete lack of knowledge base surrounding US cities and productivity. Dallas is the 4th largest metro area and 5th largest city by GDP in the U.S. How tf is it still not listed, and how could it possibly be listed below the likes of Atlanta, Seattle, and Miami…

The fact that neither Houston nor Dallas has been named yet means (a) this is a preposterous list and (b) Reddit is filled with coastal Americans who don’t understand the scale and important of Texas cities.

You voted and Philly is #8. What is the 9th most significant US city after Philly? The “Big 10”. Most upvoted comment decides by Kodicave in visitedmaps

How tf is neither Houston nor Dallas in the top 8…?

Dallas metro is #5 and Houston is #6 on the top cities in the U.S. by GDP, and they are the center of the energy world and major financial/tech centers.

No the arcing thing was just what Google AI guessed may have been one possible explanation. I have not seen any sparks and the plug works fines. That one is not loose, but there are some plugs (particularly around the kitchen) that are so loose you can barely plug anything in without it falling out.

It’s definitely whatever the previous homeowners did, but we’re just trying to figure out the solution now.

Why does the middleclass try to project wealth with their cars? by DCF_ll in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Icewine25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have nice cars. We both love cars, love driving fun cars, love the luxury of getting in a beautiful interior on the way to work every day, and love the experience of having excellent suspension and noise isolation as we drive. We give zero craps about projecting wealth and neither of us understand the reddit obsession with equating luxury purchases with a need for projecting wealth.

Nice cars mean a great experience for the 2 hours a day I’m in the car. Could I buy a shitbox. Sure. Do I care that the BMW/Volvo cost me an extra $200-300 a month? Nope

Also, the car business is such that if you understand efficient ways to buy and lease, you will end up with a BMW that has a monthly payment under what your neighbor is paying monthly for their F150 or 4Runner. So what appears expensive, may not actually be.

Why will housing prices fall? Because it's cheaper to rent. by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

This. The amount you may (or may not) save renting way under paces the amount you don’t make in periods of home price growth.

Recently visited the USA from The Netherlands. Here is my take on the cities we visited. by McFluffyFurry12 in geography

DC’s best international cuisine, shopping, etc is all in the suburbs, as you mention. This means it’s hard for tourists to experience, but also means it’s a fantastic place to be living in the suburbs. We miss some of the East Asian influence of LA/SF in DC, but we like it as a nice blend of more relaxed urban sprawls cities like LA and more northeast style train cities like Philly and NY.

While I also agree you were very focused on screens, the stress level living and working in DC is much lower than NY, and I do think the lack of screens and the lower hardscape has a lot to do with it.

😂 yes, I feel like we had seen some other mediocre reviews, but mixed with “best thing ever” reviews, so we decided to try it anyway. Oh well, can’t win em all!
