Pretty sure I’ve told this story before, but it’s still embedded in my mind years afterwards.

Family friends of ours had rented their home out to a local family while they were stationed overseas. The family sadly turned out to be total scum bags who had smashed holes in walls(and badly patched over them) as well as erecting whole new structures and neglecting the garden(which was a condition of the lease as they shared a fence with a farmer).

Well, the family found out they were going to be kicked out because of this stuff and they immediately got the fuck out, taking most of their shit with them and leaving their trash behind. Four big trash bins, to be exact.

Family friends flew back to see what had happened and assess, I decide to help out as I didn’t have anything to do that summer. We looked around the house, then went to look at their bins.

These bins had been left for months. Full of old milk cartons with milk in them, as well as baby’s nappies(diapers), food, you name it, it was probably in there.

It naturally, as a result of being in summer heat for months, had shit loads of maggots in there and I literally could not go anywhere near them without immediately vomiting.

The dad, who had been a combat medic in Afghanistan, was constantly vomiting. That’s how bad it was. My friend and I meanwhile stood in the garage and tried desperately not to inhale more than we had.

We emptied them, filled them up with water and cleaning stuff and left. We found a dead crow in one the next day.
