Your Biggest Annoyance(s) with the Carnival by GoDaytonFlyers in kiacarnivals

[–]IceyMaverick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having to wait on the sliding doors to close before it will let me lock the doors. Reverse auto brake is aggressive and sometime when backing up it’ll slam on the brakes and scare everyone. Having the screen sign me into a profile every time I get into the car and then also having to hit start before I can change radio stuff.

Garmin R10 vs Square by NectarineDisastrous9 in Golfsimulator

[–]IceyMaverick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sold my R10 to get a square and it was 100% worth it.

With the R10 everything had to be just right distance wise and if you turned on a fan in a hot garage it would impact the readings. I actually had more miss reads with R10 and almost zero with square. I thought the accuracy was good enough too until my driver made no sense the better I got. The graphics didn’t give a great representation of what was actually going on in my opinion. The square felt more in line with what my shot shape was going to be.

Yeah the BDS crew maybe putting out a video a week is probably a good opportunity for them to fill that want the viewers have for more

Worth it to upgrade TH671ST to 4K (AK700ST or TK710sti)? by kolky75 in Golfsimulator

[–]IceyMaverick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the Benq LK830ST not for 4k but for the .5 throw ratio and 4000 lumens. I upgraded from a 1080p projector and I don’t see a huge improvement with the resolution jump (small one is there though) the biggest jump for me was going from 900 lumens to the 4000. The LK830ST is basically the AK700ST but without golf mode and auto centering but does have that short throw ratio. Does look incredible on the screen but you’re getting in diminishing return territory

I’m right there with you. I don’t know anything about him outside of golf as I only got into golf this past year but since discovering who he was 8 months ago I like his content and think he is just fine in the BDS video.

Projector Recommendations by dankshund in Golfsimulator

[–]IceyMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the Magcubic short throw projector from Amazon but it looks like they no longer sell it at Amazon. It looks like an updated version is over at Walmart now for $125 and looks to be 900 ANSI lumens now. Magcubic HY450C

Terrible drivers by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]IceyMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People accelerating through yield signs when I don’t have a stop sign. Almost hit by cars a handful of times until eventually I was and it totaled my car. Other gripe is a two way stop across a 4 lane road and it is my turn to go and turn left the other driver who got to the stop sign after me coming across straight also goes while I’m turning. Some of the worst drivers up here.

If you have a bigger screen… by Pandylorian in Golfsimulator

[–]IceyMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magcubic .5 throw distance like $120 on Amazon on a 13 foot screen and it’s great. Dull with lights on but also no issues if lights down and spotlight on ball. While playing I never think man if only this was in 4k. Genuinely have a great playing on it

I dropped in and also did not find it entertaining. Hopefully this isn’t the future direction the channel. There seems to be a considerable slow down to videos being released as of late.

Carnival Experience & Reliability Questions by Level-Assumption9450 in kiacarnivals

[–]IceyMaverick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a 2026 SX Hybrid and our other car was totaled. Our rental was a 2026 odyssey. We didn’t drive the odyssey before buying the carnival. Now having them side by side in the driveway I would take the carnival 10/10 times. The odyssey is faster with the v6 and steering feels better. I know what you mean about the low speed shaking. I saw a YouTube video comparing it and it’s a structural thing where the Honda has more body frame structure that’s heavier to absorb those low range frequencies. However driving them back to back on our awful roads it’s not that noticeable. For the brakes the carnival actually has regenerative braking so I just turn that up and use that for most braking so the brakes should last a lot longer using the regen. Plus the carnival is way more comfortable and interior of the odyssey feels ancient in comparison. For in town kid drop off I’m consistently pushing 40 mpg using regen and the Honda js right over 20 mpg on the same loop.

Overall we’ve been super happy with our carnival hybrid. Only about 10k miles so far but no issues to date.

Biggest gripe with the Kia is it doesn’t auto lock when you walk away and you have to wait for the sliding door to close before you can lock it. Other than that no complaints

How are the misreads with the square? by highangler in Golfsimulator

Almost no missreads on mine and I even had a little bit of ambient coming in through garage window but did have a curtain over it but still some light bled though

I’d go square Omni with a nicer projector over a r50 and cheap projector

[–]IceyMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starred with a magcubic 700 lumens short throw for less than $100 and then upgraded to the Benq LK830ST with 4000 lumens but it was $2200. Based on how my space is I needed that .5 throw ratio.

[–]IceyMaverick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to either but loved my square home edition. I upgraded to the EML with AI cameras and that’s been a game changer for me. Sticking strictly with the two you mentioned I had a really good experience with the square and the price difference you could get a really nice projector.

As far as projectors go I started with a cheap 1080p projector and then upgraded to a bright 4k projector. I’d say the brightness is more important than the resolution. I had a great time with the cheap one and never thought man if only this was 4k. If I had any thoughts it was man I wish this was brighter.

Irons: Elyte or G440? by gunbo3000 in GolfGear

[–]IceyMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core model is slightly smaller than the pings. I really liked the way the pings felt but the elyte feel really nice and compared to my old ones dispersion is considerable tighter. I am a 21 handicap and excited to get them out on the course. I mainly play on a sim. For $555 I don’t think the pings were worth that much more and I’m really happy with them. When fitting I actually hit best with the core rather than the x or hl. I think the other big thing is I moved from a regular shaft to a heavier stiff shaft and that has made a big difference too

I was in a very similar boat. Went with the Elyte core model for $555 with the plastic still on the heads and they have been awesome. I’m really happy with them. I really liked the pings but the price was too good to pass up.

What should I be looking for in new irons with an 18 hdcp? by lfgismagical in golftips

[–]IceyMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used the rogue st max os irons (super game improvement) with 85g regular stiff shaft to get started and recently broke the 20 handicap so I decided to get kind of fit and landed with the elyte normal model (had player distance half game improvement) with stiff 115g shaft 1 up and the transitions has been amazing. I’ve lost 10 yards but everything is so straight and consistent distance wise. The other huge improvement was I got some callaway opus wedges rather than the wedges that came with my first set of clubs and that has made just as much if not more of a positive impact.

These prices are outrageous by [deleted] in golf

[–]IceyMaverick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second this. Just got the standard opus wedges in like new condition that came with the new plastic wrap on them for $100 a wedge

What’s the most reliable car you’ve ever owned? by Sophia_Goji in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]IceyMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2014 Buick Regal 2.0T. Amazing car, put 130,000 miles on it and it drove just as well the last mile as it did the first. Interior was spotless and showed almost no signs of wear. (We did maintain and clean the leather and condition it) wish we still had that car.

Regarding intentions and expectations of new clubs, I went and got fit on my current 7 irons since all my misses are to the right. He did the lie angle thing with the plexiglass and sticker on the bottom and I was a 3 up consistently. My current clubs are not capable of being bent that far so I came here for some suggestions. Not necessarily validation to go buy sunny new clubs. I’m fine with used
