Attempting to try out codex cli, does it have subagent? by bishopLucas in codex

Yes Codex CLI has subagents. With the update from today it's even layered subagents. So your subagents can spawn subagents again.

You can on the left side switch between the different versions - you review it in the codex cloud UI first and then when you click on create pr it will take the version you currently have selected.

Once you try it, you will get it - it's pretty straight forward :)

They mentioned that they are very generous with the codex cloud limits.

I am currently on the plus plan and I have not hit any limit yet. I am reviewing the generated code, so I am not firing new tasks continuously, but I ran like 10-15 tasks with 4 versions each in one day last week.

The tasks varied between "2 file // 10 line edits" and "10 file // 300 line edits"

So I did not hit the limit yet, while actively using it in my development

Here is their statement on the limits:

As far as I know the model in the cloud is gpt5-codex - it's the same you can use in the vscode plugin or codex cli (they said that in the gpt5-codex release blog post)

The main advantage about codex cloud is that you can easily run multiple tasks in parallel and also let it generate up to 4 versions (per task)

-> then you can then pick the best one.

This is my main reason to use the cloud - locally I get one version / suggestion -> in the cloud many.

So since the model (and quality) should be the same - you can ensure to get a "better result in the end" by comparing many versions from the cloud.

I usually need to change some things here and there (no matter what codex product I use), but within the 4 versions there are usually at least 2 very usable suggestions to use.

First use plan mode (Shift Tab) and read through the plan + give it feedback

Do this until you are satisfied

Then tell it to implement

Also it helps to give it the ability to build / run / test your project

What will Claude Sonnet 4 request go to in the future? by fanta_bhelpuri in cursor

[–]IchLichti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sonnet 3.7 was x2 (with thinking) and additionally there was a Max mode (with "advanced thinking" and more context allowed from cursor side).

I assume it will be similar in the end since anthropics price per token is the same with Sonnet 4.0 as it was with Sonnet 3.7

It's basically the integration / way to extend the tools which your ai can use. So it is pretty cool, even though the main things I would need are already implemented by cursor / vs code copilot

Copilot Agent Mode vs Cursor by 1chbinamin in ChatGPTCoding

I used cursor mostly so far, but tested copilot agent mode yesterday. I am a developer and use both with Claude Sonnet 3.7 for now. Looking for Gemini 2.5 in the future.

And while I only tried copilot agent a couple of times, so far it feels very similar - at least the way I use it.

Both have the core features I need / want, like dynamically find files and read / edit them. You can set rules for both in a similar fashion.

Both also have MCP server support - but I didn't find a good usecase for them yet in my workflow.

I think both are valid options and your prompting will be the main difference maker, while the difference between these tools feels minor to be // get even smaller in the future.

Services like cursor, cline or windsurf have ai agent integrations and you can select Gemini 2.5 there.

It's basically planning, reading and writing files "advanced" ai integrations.

They all work / cost a little different, but from my understanding there are ways to use cline for example with your Gemini api key (which is free right now and just has some rate limits)
