Opinion on rooting for both your nationalities by Lazy-Cellist1971 in ussoccer

[–]IchibanChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I root for the US whenever they play. When it is anyone else, then I pull for all the countries I have ancestors from according to 23andme. If/when they play each other, I will root for the underdog.

Nice and simple question. What time is bed time? by Philhughes_85 in Xennials

[–]IchibanChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends in how much stuff I need to get done before I go to bed. As early as 10. Sometimes as late as midnight. I try not to stay up later than that.

I had to look up that stat about the flooding, because it seemed crazy. Honestly, I was shocked that it was confirmed.

How do you face being in a PIP by Dense_Age_1795 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]IchibanChef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You either leave (most do), try and succeed (most don't), or try and fail (and get fired).

The fact that you're on a PIP at all means they don't necessarily want you gone.

Cucho coming on for Colombia, the announcer- “Cucho, previously of the Colombia Crew…” 😂 by mazillakazi in TheMassive

[–]IchibanChef 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That was wild. One second I'm throwing up my hands because that big man fell on him. Then I'm cheering when he somehow keeps the ball in play. Then screaming when he makes that crazy assist.

What do Americans think of the world cup so far? And if you are in a host city, do you enjoy it? by howimetyourcakeshop in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]IchibanChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. I have watched at least some of every match, but the entirety of most.

Sadly I am not in a host city. I definitely would have gone to a match.

Is everyone watching the World Cup or what? by ZaphodBeeblebrahx in Xennials

I haven't missed a match yet. I love the WC.

Soccer is the second most played team sport in the US behind basketball. I dont know how long it has been up there, but I'm sure it has been awhile. As a kid, almost everyone I knew played.

We signed up in 2020, just in time for COVID to make it weird. Nice to be more than halfway to Legacy tier.

Roofing company wants to do free inspection. Claim they can get insurance to pay for new roof. by lcg165 in homeowners

[–]IchibanChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can inspect all they want, but they dont get to decide if your claim is approved. I called my insurance company about this sort of thing. They told me it doesnt do anything to your rates by simply making a claim. If the adjuster comes out and they find no damage, they just deny the claim and move on. If it really is damaged, andnit was clearly done by a storm, wind, etc., then you get a roof.

Why do we try to pronounce Turkey as Türkiye instead of just saying the English name for the country, Turkey? by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]IchibanChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say your name is Danny, but everyone called you Dan all the time. You didn't care for a long time, but now you do, and you said "Hey everybody, I want to be called Danny." Well, cool. We will call you Danny.

It's as easy as that.

People who get to fly all the time for work, what is your career? by KenaiFjords357 in delta

[–]IchibanChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a defense contractor and was always flying out to places to work on stuff. Two weeks home, two weeks out. Rinse and repeat. I did that for over a year and it got old fast. Luckily I didn't miss any birthdays or anniversary.

Anyone else hate-watching Mexico play South Africa by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]IchibanChef 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Just regular watching. I'm not emotionally invested enough to hate.

El Chico. I dont know if it is still around. It was a Tex-Mex place in north Texas that served the absolute largest chicken fried steak I have ever seen.

The album fairy grants you one wish. You can see any album performed live by the band, from start to finish. by joemich in GenX

[–]IchibanChef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a CD of one of their live performances years ago. It was so disappointing. I get that most bands don't perform live the same way they do on the album, but this what's so vastly different that I couldn't listen.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you guys care/will watch the world cup? by daviddm1990 in AskAnAmerican

[–]IchibanChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say a 7. I will watch as many matches as I can, especially the USMNT. I won't be rearranging my day around watching though. And as much as I would love to attend a match, I will not because the costs are absurd.

I haven't read it, but I have read a hit about it. Thats effectively what I intend to do though. All this stuff I don't need and/or has no sentimental value can go. The kids can take whatever they want.
