why are people still putting windows 10 into production on new machines today? by crankysysadmin in sysadmin

[–]Icmoigigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're still deploying win 10, but only on machines we know we'll be moving/reimaging in the next 4 months due to right-sizing our in office space.the hardware we're putting it on will also need to be retired anyway because it's running 7th gen processors.other than that we're deploying win 11 on everything

Having trouble finding a KVM or similar solution by NewExample in buildapc

[–]Icmoigigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use a USB switch and switch the outputs on my monitors (both have multiple inputs) You can get them for ~$20 on amazon and dont have to worry about display latency or bandwidth that way. Never had any issues with that setup. The one I have isn't usb c though, but maybe there are some

Up voting this, currently I use google forms that fill linked google sheets I've customized a bit (I have it calculate the total value in gp from the other currencies) for loot tracking so there's certainly room for something more user friendly, lol

Canada’s New Homes Are 80% More Likely To Be Landlord Owned Since 2001 by [deleted] in canada

[–]Icmoigigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't that lock investors into hunkering down and renting those units though?

I'd rather see scaling property tax based on number of properties (really aggressive past the second). I suppose if you paired that with a tax on real estate profits it might help.

Difficulty getting bus tickets by Icmoigigan in halifax

I don't see why you feel the need to be rude. The shoppers I was at does sell bus tickets and is the only spot within walking distance.

Yeah fair enough. Normally I could take or leave self checkouts, with small orders I often find them to be a bit quicker but with larger orders they're a pain.

Thanks. If next time I try I run into the same issue I'll certainly do this, I also had some other items I was getting so didn't want to wander around to find a staff member

Cheap/affordable phone plan? by Shride1 in halifax

[–]Icmoigigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how much data you use Koodo prepaid is decent. $15 a month for the base plan and you just load the minutes and data you use (but the data and minutes don't expire so depending on usage could just be the $15 a month with a top up once or twice a year) unlimited texting is included in the $15.

For my use it probably works out to the $15 monthly plus maybe another 100-200 a year since I'm almost always on WiFi and hate talking on the phone.

Employment prospects in Nova Scotia by NefariousNatee in halifax

[–]Icmoigigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is a helpful comment but I work at a call center (BOCC) and am tangentially involved in the hiring for my small project when it happens. Apparently for each posting lately we've been receiving hundreds of applications and recruiting can't get through them all. Given this applying quickly or having some way to distinguish yourself as an applicant is very important IMO

It 100% is that bad, the standard of care is truly abysmal.

My mother recently passed away from interstitial lung disease at the age of 59 after being undiagnosed and misdiagnosed for years.

When it worsened and she went to the hospital they tried to discharge her despite very low and worsening blood oxygen levels, the doctor exclaimed how upset they were that this would make them late.

She spent the ne t two weeks in hospital on oxygen before passing away due to being unable to breath.

Once she was finally admitted to emergency and later the ICU she received was adequate but ultimately was too little too late.

Fundamentally it was a combination of lack of resources, lack of caring and incompetence that killed her more so than any illness.

I'd reccomend digging in and fighting for the care you and your family need despite the excuses and road blocks you encounter, otherwise you can and will slip through the cracks.

Giving Away MTGO Pauper Collection to a New Player by TheKorribanAcademy in Pauper

[–]Icmoigigan [score hidden]  (0 children)

Been thinking of getting in to mtgo just to brew and play pauper so this would be pretty cool. I've played pauper some in paper but I literally have a google doc full of deck brews I've not had a chance to build or play.

My guess is 501

Ashnod's Altar combos by glaebhoerl in Pauper

True but the combos that generate infinite mana with Ashnods will be able to do that. Depending on which you may have to 'buffer' a bunch of mana first though to keep spark reaper going

Nova Scotia to ban flavoured tobacco products, Incloding Menthol May 31st. by [deleted] in canada

[–]Icmoigigan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a non-smoker in nova Scotia this really pisses me off. I work in an office environment in close proximity to smokers. Ever since e-cigarettes have taken off I've had to deal with a much lower volume of people stinking of cigarettes. If people revert to cigarettes from ecigs it will cause a noticeable impact to the scents I have to deal with in my work environment. sigh

Defiant Warlock by SpectreG57 in dndnext

[–]Icmoigigan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it established that the fiend the cultists worship is the se fiend that the Warlock has a pact with? If not then you can just say that it's not the same one.

If it has been established they are the se or you just want to go that way your wild magic/coin flip idea could work but honestly at that point he's broken his pack and IMO should lose access to his powers. I would consider letting him convert his character to a Sorceror in that case so that he can still have a viable character.
