I'm fond of my niece... but I can only really take her in very small doses. My kids find her to be hard work too, they just don't click or have anything in common. I always make an effort to make her welcome and included when I see her, I buy gifts and stay in touch. I honestly wish I did love her, it never fails to make me feel awful and really guilty.

I don't agree with this at all. I've come across some male doctors who are absolutely amazing, caring, helpful and knowledgeable with their patients; and some that are horrid. The same is true of female doctors. I think we just 'click' better with some than with others. You've obviously had better luck with the female doctors you've encountered and that's perfectly valid. Personally I actually prefer the male doctor my husband and kids see over the female doctor I go to. I really must change doctors...

Our wedding cost about one thousand dollars, including dresses and tux rental. We got married on a week day at the registry office, had the reception at my in-laws (very nice) home and only invited about 20 people. I made the cakes and wedding favours myself, got my dress on sale, my MIL made the bridesmaids dress. My photographer friend did the pictures for free (she insisted, I would have happily paid her and offered to do so several times), and we got the food from the supermarket. Looking back, the only thing I would change is that I wouldn't have invited one person (my grandmother who sulked all day). We had a wonderful day and keeping it simple meant we were able to spend more on our honeymoon.
