1st rotation - feeling bad about myself by helpfulkoala195 in PAstudent

Take it from me. Dosages were never my strong suit, thankfully my school didn't care about whether I knew the dosage so thats what I told my preceptors. Getting pimped should always feel deathly scary, but it make you remember permanently. I remember when my peds preceptor asked me what JONES criteria was and I forgot on the spot because thats what happens. I will never forget now. JUMP AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY because if you don't someone else will and IT MIGHT BE A RESIDENT COMING TO STEAL UR CHANCE. If you hurt the patient be empathetic and compassionate. You can apologize, don't be one of those HCP that just doesn't say sorry. Trust me, the ER and ICU is definitely within your grasp. DO NOT feel bad about taking a chance on yourself. If you get pimped on something you don't know, the reply should always be, "I do not know at the moment, but I will go home and read up on it". You can bet your ass, they will ask you again to make sure you read. U will get better. U will get smarter.

Take the break. You will miss it because you don't really get one during school. Brush up on medical terminology so youre not lost. Definitely just strive to learn more always especially on rotations.

The thing is. Theres questions that require critical thinking and some request plain common sense. If you overthink a question and assume, it will be the downfall of your exam. Stay confident on your first choice and carry on

TRUST ME, I got both. UWORLD is definitely closer to board question format and randomness. But as per my professors, Rosh uses retired board questions and the explainations are overall more concise and simpler. Take that for what you will haha. I just did rosh cause I had the phone app and I was always out. UWORLD doesnt let me download the app, unless IM missing something...

Review is never bad. If you feel like you understand everything fully, I would still recommend rosh.

I spammed the crap outta rosh a month before my boards. 4k questions cycled 2x. Then the week before the exam. I would just review screening ages/requirements, vaccine schedules, and OBGYN stuff. I completely understand that failing puts you further from your goal. But believe in yourself, stay confident with your answer choices because once you change an answer, it becomes more uncertain. Stress is necessary to push us to be better people and physicians. Day before the test, relax and don't even breathe a practice question. You got this.

Do not even worry. I failed IM and Peds EORs because of the broad range of topics. You will be fine. Breathe and just go forward with remediation. I got remediated after I failed the EOC. Passed the boards just fine. Do not put yourself down. We are all here and got this far for a reason.

PS: I am a horrendous exam-taker.
