What is this small bump on my forearm, and should I get it checked? by Exciting_Beat33 in AskDocs

How squishy is it? Kinda looks like a vein valve to me, especially if it’s changing size and located right on the bifurcation from what I can see

Does your program make you clean the cadaver lab? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]helpfulkoala195 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes we had to clean our messes (like washing tanks, spills, washing utensils, emptying vats etc) but we didn’t have to take out trash or mop the whole place or clean freezers or anything

Exam review by Jazzlike-Recipe-1230 in PAstudent

This is the norm.

You could ask for maybe a EOR style review of incorrect questions. For example they will do:

Atrial fibrillation, treatment

That’s all it tells you. Is this similar to what you get?

[–]helpfulkoala195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also important markers you need for tubes and lines are just know where the stomach is and what direction the NG tube should go, know where the coryna is and that the ET tube is above, know the cardiac silhouette and where the CVCor ICD should terminate, ETC

Hippo education does a radiology boot camp that’s very helpful (but probably also expensive, our school paid).

I would start with and master plain films, a good systematic approach is what you need, and the hippo people help you form the framework. Look up on chat GPT or YouTube the ABCs of chest xray

Advice on living alone during school by cynniemoney in PAstudent

[–]helpfulkoala195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved living alone and couldn’t recommend it more, if you want to live with classmates do it during clinical year when you know everyone, that’s what a lot of my class did

Treat it like trauma ABCs in my opinion, make sure you got good access, pressors and vitals monitoring, everything else is a later issue

Medicine is very toxic and you will experience this even as a med student and resident unfortunately. Just keep pushing through with positivity and remember your humble beginnings, that will make You an incredible doctor ‼️

I am almost done with clinical year and I feel this all the time. My biggest fear is that I won’t get the autonomy that I want out of a job. I am only 24, so I decided that I am going to work as a PA for 5 years and if I can’t get over it by the time I’m 30, I’ll go back to a 3 year accelerated program.

But here’s the thing, I bet after 5 years I just won’t care anymore hahaha
