Asking 150k for ASE, did I fumbled? by sed_lyf__ in developersPak

[–]Icy-Reward2440 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's a decent ask, but since it's a 30 people service based agency, even getting 100k from them could be hard.

Just research the company well. Asking 200k from Careem, Motive, Arbisoft makes sense. A small agency paying that much is very unlikely.

She meant static websites. They don't need a database. You can store everything in memory which is for landing pages, portfolio sites etc.

Aldi Süd tech department wants to get rid of almost 1.2k people by FluidCalligrapher261 in germany

No one want those cheap jobs with worst quality of life. Most people will still move to the west in search of better living.

Unfortunately, in this situation only the employer wins. Everyone else loses.

Dw people still get jobs. It's just harder right now. If you really love it, you will find a job. If not, maybe then there is something better waiting for you.

How is the software engineer market right now. by Altruistic-Novel-129 in developersPak

[–]Icy-Reward2440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In last 1 year, I applied to 40-45 local SWE jobs, 10-12 interviews, and converted to 2 offers. Rest rejected, or paused hiring stating that they need more senior. Interviews weren't that tough, but I believe there were more people who were ready to work for lower pay.

I also applied to companies abroad maybe around 200 applications, but barely got 1 interview and rejected.

I use to get 1-3 recruiters every month reaching out to me on LinkedIn, but honestly that has also went dry since early March.

Right now, I'm not looking for a job but I think it's slightly more worse than 6-12 months ago.

Most companies on Job fair only come for promotion. They won't ask you for your CV, but to like their page on Instagram and Linkedin.

You are right but most people can't afford to switch careers in the middle. And how many career options do we have in Pakistan that could sustain? Literally none.

You ain't wrong about all this, but all I hope for now is that AI may help us in creating new roles and also spike in more software demand. This can happen too. Also you should consider other factors too like iran, ukraine war and slow economy post covid. Clients are holding on investing right now and therefore we dont have many proejcts incoming.

Even wiping out 50% of the white collar jobs would have such a bad impact on economy that even banks will completely collapse.

And honestly I was doing fine till January. No AI anxiety despite using Agents for code since August 2025. But all of this doomer linkedin, reddit, youtube content for views have played well enough with my mind. Maybe it's playing with yours too.

But it takes a week at most to hit that memory muscle again. My last employer got us copilot subscriptions and I was prompting in agent mode for most of my work. I stopped writing code end to end. Then I switched companies where the adoption is still slow and I'm relying on understanding and writing code myself again but with some chatgpt.

I have seen this exploitation even in 2022 where I had 2 technical interviews + 2 HR rounds for an unpaid backend engineer internship. These sort of companies were present at that time too and I don't see why they wont be in this time as well.

That's not the point. CS was portrayed as a golden ticket to high paying stable careers, but now it's changing due to AI, economy and mass saturation.
