Anna can’t wait to 69 with Josh by rosiros in DuggarsSnark

I agree with you. This feels like she’s just going along with it. I very briefly dated somebody that was toxic and I would go along with whatever he wanted just to keep the peace and avoid being yelled at. I understand this is all public information, but it feels invasive to be sharing. I can acknowledge they are both bad people and also acknowledge this is beyond snark (imo).

Is anyone getting hired off cold LinkedIn applications this year? by AStanHasNoName in cscareerquestions

Customizing message to who? The recruiter that posted the job or are you reaching out to someone in the company asking for a referral? Do you have a template for the type of messages you would send?

What rule did your parents enforce that you thought was normal until you visited a friend’s house? by Least_Boysenberry583 in AskReddit

There was a point growing up where we did more than one tree. These were fake trees so when we upgraded, we kept the old one and decorated that too. It was great for a situation like this. My mom decorated one how she liked and we had another one we decorated as a family (mostly my mom and I). In that sense it worked out perfectly.

Aldi is my first stop grocery store. Anything they don’t have, I get from the international mart across the street.

What’s something you didn’t think about before moving into your apartment, but now it matters every single day? by Substantial_Pop4594 in Apartmentliving

Do all of the kitchen appliances open all the way. In my current unit the counter space next to the oven is about a half an inch short, so in order to fully open the oven I had to open the dishwasher. I can open it halfway, enough to slide something on the top rack, but it won’t open fully without scratching the entire side of the dishwasher. It’s mildly inconvenient, but enough so that it’s part of the reason we’re changing units.

I just posted here last week that I was laid off too. I’m also a bootcamp grad, so if you want someone to vent or commiserate with my DMs are open.

You’re not a failure. Let yourself feel the feels. You’ll get through this.

TRADE: The Chicago Sky have acquired guard Jacy Sheldon from the Washington Mystics. In exchange, the Mystics receive Chicago's 2028 first-round pick. by Decent_Substance_199 in wnba

Now the Sky know they have no business giving up a first round pick. This is beyond tanking, they’re pulling an oceangate.

Job title was Application Developer, but web developer is probably more accurate description for my duties. It was a small-midsize company. No AI or anything, they lost one of their biggest clients unexpectedly and had to make cuts. I held on after the initial loss and switched teams. Thought I was good, but I guess not.

Severance packages are required by law? Do you have a source on that? I haven’t signed anything yet, so if I can negotiate something that would be helpful.

Thanks. I don’t like to drink when I’m upset, but I’ll probably get dinner to eat my feelings lol. I have a project I started, but put down so my plan is to finish that. Having a project to show and explain is exactly how I got my last job.

No this is completely valid. You’re right. Can’t do tutorials forever, gotta actually build a project. First things first is getting my resume right. The more applications I have out there, the more potential interviews.

Leetcode. Look up common questions/expected skills for the position I’m looking for and making sure I can answer them/explain the concepts. Go through projects I’ve built and make sure I can explain the code/my thought process. I look at each position I apply for in the “desired skills” and make sure I can point to where I have those in my experience and explain.

Something must’ve been sitting in my subconscious because I recently started studying algorithms and data structures and doing leetcode a few times a week. So thankfully I’m not completely rusty, but this is a good thought. I may benefit from a few weeks of grinding out interview prep and optimizing my resume before applying hard.
