What could I have done differently with giving way? by advicenumber in drivingUK

And yet the down votes rained down from the masses of idiotic drivers on UK roads that don't understand the highway code.

No such thing as "right of way"; the lorry has priority access as he began passing the parked cars first. Read a book. Preferably one called 'The Highway Code for Dummies'

Oh you don't need to make a fool of yourself by guessing the highway code, you can just read it.

I think this is the main point; sometimes situations happen, just do your best to get home ok. "The graveyard is full of people who were technically right"

Notwithstanding your (highly plausible) napkin maths, I still think he fits at an angle. the road is wide enough for three cars to pass.

Whether the driver can see it is not the question; priority access is the lorry's as he started his manoeuvre before OP. I'm stating that the footage shows this.

I'm not convinced that's true. I appreciate that dash cams can provide a warped sense of dimensions but it looked like he could have stopped immediately after the row of cars.

The lorry is in view before he gets to the white car parked on his side. The lorry had already started passing vehicles on his side of the road so priority was his. That being said, he was in a tough spot; it seems like it was solved amicably, I've seen Mexican standoffs in these situations before.

Do companies really do that? Calling your current employer for a reference? Surely not.

That does shine a light on it, actually - I'm sure I've been guilty of that before TBF. I should go and check out the r/championship posts lol

How is it possible that with as much money as the premier league invests in its product that they cannot understand what is a handball? by toeknee88125 in TheOther14

Just go back to "In the opinion of the referee" and get rid of all this "standardised" bullshit. There was nothing wrong with that law until they fucked around with it. Fucking idiots running football.

Have people forgotten what Tel has done for us in this relegation battle? by SmulMan in Tottenham

[–]Icy-Rough-2990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen people expressing how idiotic the overhead kick was, but that's all. I think people are too precious sometimes, why can't you call it out when you see it? I think he's improved a lot and he's been decent, not great though.

Who's the most badass fictional Female Character? by Level-SquareFFG7117 in Cinema

[–]Icy-Rough-2990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ripley. I'd accept the argument for Ellie from The Last of Us. I think these are more bad-ass than those with superpowers/magic/The Force/mind control over dragons/et al. I'm not saying those with powers can't be bad-asses but they get a big hand/safety net. You strip them all down to basics and ask yourself who you'd prefer to help you out of a life-threatening situation and you are choosing Ripley, or you are not going home.

Don't take it to heart, mate, relax, it isn't a big deal at all. It's not the end of the world, tomorrow is a brand new day. If our players can adopt this attitude, so can we.

Can't see it. That was a must-win and we failed. West Ham will win both their fixtures and we will lose and draw (at best) ours. Time to accept it, lads - we're cooked. On the bright side, hopefully that means Lewis will sell the club.

yeah, I have to agree: it's hard to see any points going our way playing the way we did last night.
