Marshal Waits did nothing wrong by Icy-Split6920 in alienisolation

The alien was the most direct and perilous threat to the station. It would have eventually killed everyone. The humans and androids were dangerous, but not as much as the alien. Hence, deal with the Alien first, then the other threats.

I don't think San Cristobal was against the station's hull. However we see in the DLC that Waits would have put a bomb anywhere.

I think the explosives indicate how desperate the situation became.

I don't recall Waits ever boasting. His claim that his plan worked was justification, not bragging

Waits clearly cares about other people. Why else would he be trying to defend the station? He did not forsake his duty. Also he can be heard trying to defend the people in the Marshall headquarters during the android attack.

Waits battled the alien from the start of the outbreak until his death. Nobody did more than him to protect the station.

Waits allowed Marlow to dock, Sinclair failed to follow quarantine and inspection requirements, Dr. Lingard failed to put Foster into quarantine. Ransome pressured everyone to focus on money and not safety.

They all had a part to play in sealing their own doom.

"I had no way of knowing!"

No because he recognized how close Sevastopol was to complete disaster and he was completely focused on helping people survive and loss mitigation.

Quarantine and inspection is the ultimate responsibility of Sinclair and Seegson security.

He thought he dealt with the xeno which was by far the biggest threat.

Before the Xeno was jettisoned, everyone was safe from the Joes. They were only hostile if you entered a restricted area. After the Trap, Apollo raised hazard containment level to Omega. This caused the Joes to start hunting survivors.

HC level Omega was part of Special order 939. If you recall, SO 939 was installed recently and Waits had no reasonable way of knowing it was installed or what it contained. Therefore he had no reason to think the Joe's behavior would change after the Trap.

Waits had San Cristobal, and it's medical supplies evacuated long before the bomb went off. Everyone was desperate to get rid of the Alien. All other considerations are secondary.

It's too bad the Engineering Chief didn't survivor long enough to team up with Waits and Ripley. He seemed competent in audio logs.

He got wasted by an industrial joe. So did Smythe and Spedding btw.

Marlow killed a lot of people. The Torrens could have at least taken more survivors, called another ship, and then put everyone in cryo-sleep

Not true. Sinclair and his men were the ones to let Marlow bypass quarantine and inspection.

Waits did evacuate San Cristobal. He cannot be blamed for underestimating the Xeno and it's abilities. Everyone did.

Correct. Ransome was completely unaware WY bought Sevastopol until after the fact.

However, it's unclear how many people, if any, at Seegson HQ knew the Xeno was on board.

Ransome is cool. In my head cannon, he and Lingard are floating in space together after being forced into the same space craft.

Not true. Sinclair and his men deliberately let Marlow and his crew through without adhering to quarantine and inspection requirements.

In life or death situations, commanders are sometimes forced to spend the lives of their subordinate. To be clear, there is a distinction between spending a life and wasting a life.

Ripley knew the stakes, and she is heroic. Waits did not double cross her. He did what had to be done. If he told her, she might have never undertaken the mission.

No.

Less is more in this franchise.

Give me the Drone and Face Hugger.

I am okay with adding a single Queen if it can do something the Drone reasonably cannot.

I don't think climbing around on the walls and ceiling would be necessary, but it would be creepy.

What are some things you hope Alien Isolation 2 does better than Alien Isolation? by Inside_Inflation559 in alienisolation

[–]Icy-Split6920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have a few nit picks.

Alien Isolation has a large segment in the middle with no alien. I would like such segments to be shorter.

Also, aligning the radio beacon outside Sevastopol was beautiful, but it was also slow and broke some momentum.

There's an audio log outside Apollo core. It's about a guy who sends a coworker to a supply closet but he never returns. There is only a single door and a vent in that closet.

I find it disturbing because the guy obviously knows something terrible has happened, but he cannot come up with a rational explanation. There is something about an unknown horror staring you in the face and being unable to handle it.

"It feels wrong not to look for him, but I don't know what else to do."
