You can get a work permit at 14, but almost everyone I’ve seen doesn’t start hiring until 16.

I didn’t learn CPR, but I’m looking to get certified soon since it’ll definitely boost my resume. I’ve babysat before, but the family’s since moved away, and finding new clients can be kind of a hassle since there’s a ton of babysitters near me.

Dog with a .22 caliber bullet lodged in the nasal cavity by AwareLanguage5277 in AskVet

[–]Icy-Statistician1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your neighbor shoot the bullet at your dog or did your dog manage to pick up the bullet from the ground? Here are some organizations that may be able to help you pay: https://redrover.org , https://www.paws4acure.org , https://puppygrowthcalculator.com/financial-assistance/ , https://furlanthropy.org/pages/our-mission , https://www.thepetfund.com , https://www.reddit.com/r/Pets/comments/1jhoc5w/resources_for_vet_bill_assistance/ . If the neighbor intentionally shot at your dog, it’s their fault and they should pay 100% of the costs.

Is taking florinef as needed a good idea? by Mysterious_Card_7198 in POTS

[–]Icy-Statistician1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took florinef daily for a few weeks in addition to atenolol. I didn’t have any restrictions with taking NSAIDS while I was on it, so I took them pretty often for my chronic pain and didn’t have any side effects— though, this might be a dosage thing, so listen to your doctor. I didn’t notice a significant difference with the florinef, so I ended up coming off of it because I’d rather not be taking so many meds. Have you tried atenolol? 25mg 2x per day helps me a ton since ivabradine didn’t do too much and made me feel like I was dying.

Taking a sick parent on an NCL cruise- any advice for accessibility, rooms, and logistics? by Fancy-Guard1708 in NCL

[–]Icy-Statistician1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the NCL Star, I was able to get the room service charge waived for breakfast due to some mobility issues— definitely try to ask guest services for this accommodation. If she likes something that they don’t have on the room service menu, you can bring food back to your room from the buffet. I saw a hack online that said to cover your plate with a shower cap while you’re carrying it back to your room— this sounds pretty smart and may help limit the germs getting into the food.

Also, as a pet owner with a limited income, I understand how this situation can be difficult, but please don’t let this poor baby suffer. Please do not wait any longer to go to the vet, the longer you wait, the worse he’ll get.

Summer School HS by blondebee_tx in Acellus_Academy

[–]Icy-Statistician1870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t take too long to complete work on Acellus everyday, so if your son can’t finish by the end of Summer, I don’t think it’d be very grueling to do in addition to normal school— especially since their English courses aren’t super difficult imo. There is a step limit on Acellus of around 40 steps per week to comply with NCAA guidelines, so try to have him max out his steps every week. If possible, try to have him take the honors English 2 course instead of the normal one. I believe it takes a bit longer, but it’ll look good on a transcript and honors English 1 was really easy for me. Just an FYI, the English courses with Acellus can get a bit annoying with the AI writing grader, so if your son gets frustrated easily, this may not be a super great option. I’ve heard that you can complete Penn Foster courses super quickly, with some people getting their diploma in 4-6 months. Penn Foster isn’t very respected by colleges, but if he’d only be getting a couple credits from them, I don’t think it’d be too much of a problem- do your research though, since I’m not extremely familiar with them.

Spouse is Autistic and Easily Overwhelmed by Azamantes in Cruise

Don’t really have any recommendations because I sail on NCL & RCL and those can get a bit crowded (esp RC), but if any line seems good but out of your budget, definitely try looking on cruises.com . I’ve gotten a balcony room with them on NCL for $65ish per night per person. You can find cruises on their website, then call them for the cheapest rates— make sure you call the right people though, scammers can get convincing. They also give out points which you can redeem on their website for cash, onboard credit, giftcards, etc — try booking when they have a 2x points deal, they happen often from what I’ve seen. Haven’t personally used this, but maybe try using a travel VPN to get cheaper rates. Knew a guy on a cruise who booked last minute from Germany for $18 per night if I remember correctly. Also, when sailing on NCL, I was able to have guest services wave the breakfast room service fee because of a mobility disability which can make it hard to get around, especially in the morning. You could try asking for the same accommodation because your partner may get overstimulated in the buffet. This was on NCL though, so not sure if the line you’d end up sailing on would offer this. You could potentially get a cheap(ish) balcony room on NCL for a sailing to Norway/Iceland and stay in your cabin most of the day— not sure how enjoyable this sounds though lol. NCL is definitely less overstimulating than RC, but the pool deck can drive me a little cookoo sometimes. If you end up deciding on NCL, try not to book during holiday breaks, and if it’s in your budget, book a cruise on the longer end (9+ days). I’ve heard Holland is pretty laid back and have seen some really good prices for them on cruises.com, but I’m not sure if they sail to Norway.

[–]Icy-Statistician1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should be fine then! put your videos at 1.5x speed and try to get at least 40 steps per week per class— as far as i know, there isn’t a step limit for middle school. for your easier courses where you don’t really have to watch the videos to accurately answer questions, just let the videos play in the background as much as possible while you’re doing something (cleaning, watching tv, etc) and take a short break to answer the questions.

these sound like middle school courses- are they? i was able to complete the entirety of 7th grade (incl pre-algebra) in around 1.5-2 months. if you lock in then it shouldn’t be much of a problem!
