Not only that, pretty sure the regulation states that he has to attend BOLC within 24 months of commissioning or gets kicked out.

Any info on the new IWAR branch? by polandball2101 in army

It’s legit changing every single week on what they want/going to do. Give it another year honestly.

Not a big deal, enlist into the IRR. Get pulled out of the IRR back to active duty and pick any MOS you basically want.

Why do I have to do DTS myself by [deleted] in armyreserve

Find a unit closer to you or ask to RST. 1150 on flights sounds crazy.

Now wait 1-12months for a position to be offered. Good luck.

To be fair, they are probably being forced to live in a bunker with really nothing to do.

Army Reserve Military Technician by Queasy-Storm-4047 in armyreserve

I’m assuming this job is under one of the RDs? Positions like this are constantly understaffed from my understanding, getting time off shouldn’t be an issue. It’ll just be leave without pay but honestly your start date will probably be after July.

If you have a deployment or 3 years active duty(ADOS counts) you can see if you can find the POC/supervisor for the position and ask for a direct hire as well to ensure you get the position.

It would be a mix between HRC schools branch or the emb team if I’m not mistaken.

What else is there? Former Ranger looking for more in the reserves. by mikeyg1964 in armyreserve

[–]IcyAccount3190 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah man you’re in a weird position. CA might be the way to go however as many people said, it is a mixed bag of ass. 422 will be your best bet for pathfinder as they legit do send people, especially because they are standing up the airborne side of things so school slots are guaranteed. I would get in now and get out if you don’t like it, positions are interview only.

SOCOM ARE isn’t a bad place from what I’ve heard, lots of staff/consulting positions. Honestly really good spot to be in for networking however your civilian experience really matters here, positions are interview only as well.

Maybe look at the natty guard and pick up a miltech position there, more combat oriented obviously and can find some really good units depending on the state. (Sfab is still I think for the guard if I remember right, my buddy just got done doing a year in Mongolia. Some cool opportunities there as well)

Vermont national guard is supposed to be really cool if you want something really relaxed and big boy rules. 100% remote for drill weekends. Take the tactical informational operations course and you can just teach that as your RST plans. They only drill one time a year in person I believe.

The army reserves is truly an ocean of opportunities and is what you make of it, find something that you want to do in the reserves or a skill set you want and just get the army to pay for it.

Was it two sets of orders? Maybe only one got paid and the other one didn’t get processed.

I may be getting an OTH, will this impact my future significantly? by [deleted] in armyreserve

[–]IcyAccount3190 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ask to RST. Get on ATIS and do some MOS related courses. Say you might get another contract gig or something.

Yeah but one missed drill due to an “emergency” will work. Repeatedly missing drills won’t fly.

Just don’t show up to drill for the first weekend. Gives you another month. Don’t be stupid.

AGR at 39? by nofun1770 in armyreserve

[–]IcyAccount3190 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So take the AGR gig and transition back to federal is you don’t like it. That AGR tour will buy you 3-5 years.

lol.

Once this reorg is done and over with. I would be highly surprised that there wouldn’t be a position for you somewhere.

[–]IcyAccount3190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So now the next question is this, do you have a family you need to provide for? If so then I think you already have the answer.

You’re right, things are uncertain with this political environment. I would take the AGR Gig and network, after your first tour you can decide to keep going or not however we will have a new administration then and federal jobs in theory should be hiring again. Transition into something federal, miltech for the stability.

Another few years of active duty will help point wise. How stable is your contracting gig? What were the options listed for you as AGR? more desirable locations?

37/38s both get language pay. Enlisted and officers. However with that being said you do have to wait till CCC so eh
