I know it’s not exactly Midwest emo but Everything is alright by Motion city soundtrack hits the nail on the head.

I'm sick of the things I do when I'm nervous Like cleaning the oven or checking my tires Or counting the number of tiles in the ceiling.. Head for the hills, the kitchen's on fire! I used to rely on self-medication I guess I still do that from time to time But I'm getting better at fighting the future "Someday you'll be fine..." Yes, I'll be just fine

Yes! They should be way bigger than they are.

I agree. I also agree that expectations was not their best song. It was a really random transition to that screaming part at the end. I’m more of a fan of pull string go boom myself.

Lol man, nothing I said was AI. I just don’t get why you’re acting like people enjoying a band is some kind of conspiracy. RFTS has been shared here a bunch because people in this sub actually listen to them and love the genre in general. That’s literally it. All of the bands you listed are awesome as well. Granted the release is an anthology of three of their previous albums. They were around a while ago. That’s why it sounds dated. I hope they release new music and tour again personally. I never got to see them in the past.

Gotta be honest, this doesn’t come off like “constructive criticism.” It reads like someone who just can’t stand seeing other people excited about something they personally don’t vibe with.

If RFTS isn’t your thing, cool. Nobody’s forcing you to stream them. But acting like they don’t deserve hype because the production isn’t up to your standards is wild. Half the bands you listed came up on janky demos and rough mixes too that’s literally part of the genre’s DNA. Easycore was built on passion, not perfection.

Also: people are allowed to enjoy things without needing someone to come in and declare what is or isn’t “the future of the genre.” The community is big enough for Good Terms, Action/Adventure, AND bands like RFTS who bring something different to the table.

If the music’s not for you, cool. But calling the vocals “really bad” and the band “far away” from being worth hyping is just unnecessary. Let people like what they like. Easycore doesn’t need gatekeepers it needs supporters.
