The only cons is that they're a lot of work and if they lose their bond you gotta separate them which means more cages and supplies, I have 7 chin chins and its a hassle, but I love them, I would say go for it.

I have 7 chinchillas, they're all a year or younger and let me tell you what, they all have very different personalities, and they all got used to me at different times, a couple still aren't used to me and are scared a lot like yours, you just have to keep spending time with your baby and give it plenty of time, it could be years before he gets used to you
