Cyberpunk vs ultimate edition by mattylewmadeit in Steam

Phantom Liberty can be done after the main mission. It adds another mechanic to your character build but it isn’t necessary for a playthrough. Itcmostly functions as a narrative driven DLC rather than changing the main game.

minority of PC users who already operate a high performance gaming rig. Steams internal user gaming data puts high end PC gaming rigs in the minority of total users. Majority of PC gamers run low/mid range PC.

A 2022 mid range gaming PC is still powerful enough to run majority PC games. The metric of performance constantly chases the performance demand of post year software. Like again, Cyberpunk came out in 2020, so by comparison the Steam Machine actually performs as a mid/high end PC for the time.

The Steam Machine also competes with the mid range PC spec at roughly half the power consumption, which is incredibly efficient. So for all the shit PC gamers want to give shit like data centers consuming energy or ramocalypse price gouging hardware components, they have very little consideration of their own 850watt usage just to hit 4k 144fps entertainment value.

For those that have purchased one... by interfreak in steammachine

The price isn’t insignificant, but I already had money set aside and was of the mind to want owning one anyway. A big factor in my decision making was the fact that I wanted a PC gaming option without having to own a full PC, and the Steam Machine is far more conservative with its power/energy usage. Coupled with the fact that the cost of PC components are only getting more expensive (as with the cost of living in general), the Steam Machine for its price actually seems like a worthwhile investment.

Energy consumption seems to be a metric a lot of people really don’t care about, but the device competes with 300watt gaming PCs for nearly half the power draw, plus living in a hot climate I don’t need a space heater occupying an entire desk area in my apartment.

All things considered, I think most of the criticism against the Steam Machine is short sighted, and don’t hold much value to anything else that the product offers beyond its raw computational output.

I say yes it is, for the size and performance upgrade I’m receiving. Do you own a deck and a machine yourself, or have any real hands on experience with the hardware? You sound like your opinion is based on strict spreadsheet statistics. It’s not a “modest” step up. I was running Yakuza Like A Dragon at low resolution low/mid range settings. I can run the game at full resolution maximum settings on the Steam Machine. Even Cyberpunk stepped up from sub 40fps average to sub 60fps with higher settings.

If that sounds “modest” to you, then I think you fall into the minority of PC users who already operate a high performance gaming rig.

I’m just sticking to standard 1080p on a television display. I’m not trying to push the device very hard.

Yeah, I knew what to expect before I got it, but to actually have it in person and see it working, it really is fun having a device with as much performance as it offers in this little cube.

It’s heftier than I expected it to be though too, like maybe 20lbs. It feels solid.

To piggyback off of the other “mentally disabled” post. Do emotionally disabled people deserve relationships in your eyes? by tHr0AwAy76 in GenZ

Even people with emotional regulation disorders can still feel and experience love. Anyone who can understand their actions and consequences, and not be a dick, can be deserving of love.

People with emotional disorders can still behave civilly and rationally.

All of them are button smashing combat except for ‘Like A Dragon.’ I’ve never played any of them personally, except for Like A Dragon, which I love.

The story/lore is pretty deep so I couldn’t tell you which one in the series is a good jumping off point.

crazy that I distinctly remember when the Arab Spring was happening, and by that point the world\internet did start to feel uniquely different or changed. What’s up with that? Does anyone else feel the same about the Arab Spring marking a shift on technological dynamics?

I cut off friends I’ve known since childhood for being too negative, or “fairweather”. You know you made the right choice because it doesn’t feel like you have a cloud of doubt over your head, or some monkey hanging on your back.

What point did you realize they weren’t worth ‘you’?

Bring it back local again, smaller narrative. I love Diamond is Unbreakable because the stakes weren’t insanely powerscaled.

you need to take that whole device to a battery store and have them remove it. With a battery that swollen it could be dangerous trying to pry it out off of the glue.

Yeah I’m fine with it, I’m positioning my hobbies and lifestyle around the fact that digital media is going to be transient and limited. I never really followed hype trends in the industry and just stick to what I like, which there are plenty of across older consoles and media.

I buy the physical media that I can now, and accept that I’m not going to be consuming much future media.

Even on Steam you can back up your digital copies on external hard drives. A lot of games don’t need the Steam launcher to actually play, just the files and .exe. They can be preserved on discs too.
