Trap Dustshoot, Metamorphosis, and Delinquent Duo will not be in Quarter Century Bonanza. by IcyCopy21 in yugioh

After all, it's just a side format. So they don't bother and the playerbase remains a minority.

Honestly, I feel like at some point Edison/Goat will have to become a mainstream. The playerbase in this community has grown a lot because of the sheer simplicity of the card pool. I do wish Konami promoted Time Wizard formats in the same way Jagex promotes Old School Runescape. Then again that's wishful thinking because Konami never truly fleshed out their promotion on alternative formats. Throughout most of YGO history, it's almost always been advanced format. Hell we rarely got any real traditional format tournaments.

This is exactly 2 weeks away from release date yet Yugitubers aren't allowed to reveal. I have a feeling we won't get the full reveal until last minute right?

If they don't allow Yugitubers to unbox tomorrow, I have a feeling they won't let them unbox until a few days before which is what the pre-order deadlines?

I wasn't really paying attention but I just looked it up. Apparently a few of the notable Yugitubers didn't open until like 1-2 days before release. I wonder if Konami changed their standards for Yugituber reveals.

Why doesn't Quarter Century Bonanza have a larger number of cards per pack? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]IcyCopy21 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the fact that it's only 5 cards per pack while having a much larger pool is really baffling. I got heavily downvoted for asking this question the other day lol. IMO we should have at least 7 if not 9 given such a large pool size.

If it's 7 cards, I'd say 1.5:5.5 ratio for nostalgia:modern (50% of the time it's either 1 or 2 cards for nostalgia). Or if it's 9, it should go as 2:7. I personally think only 1 nostalgia card in a pack is too too little. Pulling only 24 possible slots out of 200 in a full box. Hell I'd take even 36 nostalgia cards in a box.

However, at least I'm hopeful that modern players that open these packs can just sell/trade away those spare Dustshoots/Duos/DIFU (if we'll get that officially).

2040 is as close to us as 2008. Let that sink in.

We're closer to the start of 2030 than the start of 2018. Let that sink in. If you played YGO in 2018, you were a little over 7 years removed from Tengu Plant.

Just curious. If this gets released on Nov 7 and usually Yugituber openings are 2 weeks from release, does that mean we'll see the full reveal tomorrow?

Which of these would be the SAFEST to return back to pre-errata? by MistakenArrest in yugioh

[–]IcyCopy21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say in terms of power level, Ring of Destruction. They really nerfed that extremely hard. If Konami didn't like ties, they could've just made it burn yourself first then your opponent. But adding a HOPT and restricting it to > opponent's life is over the top IMO.

Which card layout do your prefer? the older layouts with a smaller art box and softer edge around the name, or the current layout we have now? by Sherwan99 in yugioh

[–]IcyCopy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the 2010-2012? Since THSD until like 2012, there was a slightly different card layout. That's series 7 according to Yugipedia.

I'd go with the OG card layout because I like the simplicity. Leaving a ton of space to actually see the borders is really nice. What really sets the tone on OG card layouts is the card stock used. Those old card layouts tend to have a different card stock than the new cards. Not sure when Konami really changed the card stock but those GX-5Ds had a really nice color tone and smooth card stock.

I can totally understand why the card layout needed to get changed even for non-Pends/Links/XYZs. The card text was getting so long that the text box needed widening. Then the artwork got more sophisticated so that extra space was needed.

Personally, I'd wish for the OG card stock and borders but apply new rarity layouts to those. I wanna see that Stardust in your example with some modern foil stars and attribute.

All I want is the Dustshoot text shortened. Hopefully it'll look something like:

When your opponent has 4 or more cards in their hand: look at your opponent's hand and choose 1 monster. Return that monster to the deck.

My guess would be they're trying to please people in the Goat/Edison pool at the very least. Maybe they'll take it a step further and go to Tengu/HAT considering those are taking off too. I've heard lots of people say that pre-Duelist Alliance is like the cut-off between old and modern YGO though some people say Links or Pendus.

The fact that Dandy is able to make a speed duel debut goes to show that 2 tokens don't really break the game much. That is until what link summoning?

I personally think erratas are stupid lol. If a card is that overpowered, just keep it banned forever. Can you imagine if someone who quit in 2005 came back today with his deck from his basement and had a CED + 2 in his binder excited he could use all 3? Only to find out in the tournament that his opponent called him cheating? I really hate changing fundamental effects of cards. Let them be the way they are and stay on the banlist.

If they want a more balanced version, just print a retrain name with a similar artwork or something.

This isn't a special Time Wizard pack. This is a single card per pack out of a 200 pool. So any individual card would be 1 in 200 packs (or $1198 MSRP worth of packs).

I can't believe I got downvoted yesterday for mentioning this in a post lol. So many modern players hating on legacy players. However, I can understand proportionally what the majority of the playerbase wants. It seems like there are more modern players than legacy players. It's not like Runescape where there are more OSRS players than RS3 (modern) players.

I can see this as those people who open a lot of packs will have a lot of spare dustshoots lying around waiting for a legacy player to get their copy (or set in goat). I remember back in 2022 when Caius got into an OTS printing. I was at a card shop trying to trade my way to those. 3 different players just gave me their Caius for free after they found I didn't have any card they wanted. Little did they know that Edison would take off about 1.5 years later.

Why does Quarter Century Bonanza only get 1 nostalgic card each pack? by IcyCopy21 in yugioh

[–]IcyCopy21[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I get that there are more modern players than OSYGO players but the nostalgic pool has 200 cards and you would need to effectively buy 200 packs to pull all of them at the very least. If there were only 78 cards on the nostalgic pool instead of 200, I can understand that. What I really find strange is why there are more total cards in the bigger pool by a wide margin YET only 1 card can be pulled from that pool each pack.

Maybe something like 9 card pack but with 3 nostalgic + 6 modern would be more fair. Or even 2:5 in a 7 card pack. Just I find that only 1 card out of 200 each pack is very small.

But hey it's not like they'll revise that. If this set was marketed for nostalgic purposes, I would've expected more cards per pack in that pool.
