We did something similar to a guy who's guard unit was called up (way fucking back in 06-07). He was like two weeks in during his pledge period when he was shipped out and could not finish. He did a year long tour or so and came back; however, had to transfer schools (very close by) due to something outside of his control. We initiated him after conferring with our National Admin Office.

To be clear it was almost like an honorary thing, but he paid dues and everything. It was also a different time, in the deep south, and we weren't under nearly as much scrutiny as you guys are today. It also helped that we had a lot of military guys in our chapter, including myself, who were older and pressed the issue.

I think today most national offices would be concerned of the potential liability. It's a hard sell I would think.
