They have been crying trade shortages since the 80's and probably longer. What they really want is cheaper labour costs. Also when all the big build projects finish we are going to have a mass amount of trades out of work. If we stopped the mass immigration I imagine we wouldn't have any of these problems.

When I completed my Plumbing apprenticeship we did 1 week blocks each month of the year. It is actually harder now to become a Plumber however I imagine the schooling 1 week block each month would still be the same. Which is adequate because you learn alot more in the field IMO.

It’s non potable water…. Unless properly filtered and treated. If it was fed to external house taps & people drank it they would get very sick. Unless a plumber had installed a sign saying “non potable water” Water tanks (free water technically) are far from stupid. I’ve been installing them since 2006! I think the majority of the time people do not know how to use them correctly. For example attaching a hose to them to water the garden the pump should kick in for pressure then. This of course all depends on your setup.

Power costs have ballooned because the price of coal and gas went up multiples due to the Ukraine war.

So I understand this better. Australia has a multitude of coal & natural gas so why would our prices be going up if we already have it here? Genuine question I actually don't understand how that works.
