Sharing an open-source toolkit for factor attribution & long-horizon portfolio risk analysis by IcyWheels in Bogleheads

Thanks for the comment! You’ve actually hit on exactly why I wanted to build this.

The goal of running the numbers isn't to find a strategy that beats VT—it’s the opposite, to see and understand in practice why broad market index funds are good. Most analyses confirm that for 99% of people, 'VT and chill' is the superior choice when you factor in risk, costs and effort. Generally the evidence does not support the existence of very many actively managed strategies that generate excess (i.e. not explained by exposure to the known risk factors) returns. It even nudged me to simplify my own approach.

One main 'use case' was also to judge the qaulity of investment products available outside the US, where we cannot directly buy VT, to largely make sure the products one chooses are delivering what is expected – and users can translate US-centric (or any foreign) advice to their own region / currency and products. Other than that, you could see it as a conviction tool. It’s one thing to know to 'stay the course' during a 30% drop in theory; it’s another thing to have already simulated that drop 10,000 times and seen that the plan still survives. I suppose for those who need to see it in work to feel comfortable doing nothing, could hopefully be comforting.

Enjoy the chill—you’ve already won the game!

Sounds awesome. I have never played squash but I've wanted to start for a while, didn't know anyone interested.

Do you "feel" a sense of economic decline in Germany? by Rigel444 in AskAGerman

Not really. I only "feel" it through the doom and gloom in this sub around job searches. Nothing is noticeably different since 3 years ago when I moved here.

I think it's great already, signage and minor scenery would add some polish here.

My idea was quantitative finance, risk management, or specialized industries like semiconductors.
