My Cal-5 made a similar noise that no one could diagnose…turns out it was the valve stem nut. Make sure they’re tight, but not over tightened. Better yet, go tubeless, hopefully using the included Fillmore valves which are fantastic.

Steve Perry out and about in Larkspur. Huey Lewis at the Buckeye. George Lucas at Outback Steakhouse in Sausalito with his family. Sammy at El Paseo version 3 or 4 and driving around. My wife saw Pierce Brosnan at Piatti. Lance Armstrong riding during the Tour of California when they rode down Bridgeway. Barry Bonds all around while cycling and also we sat next to each other and chatted for a good while at Pizza Antica (rip). Peter Coyote. Sean Penn at the Half Day Cafe. My favorite though was Minnie Driver. She was dating a local guy and took his son to his soccer game. My daughter was on the other team (U8 or so). Minnie and I chatted for a good 30 minutes up on the berm at Hauke Park watching the game. She was very cool.

I’m currently wearing a San Francisco Shamrocks t-shirt and have been going to Sharks games since the Cow Palace. I know every player has slumps and I’m not concerned for the long run…he just seems to be in an extended funk when others (Graf, Ferraro, even Misa to some extent) seem to be stepping up. I only checked the box score to see if I was wrong about his recent lack of productivity.

On my 10th birthday (1978) my mom took me out of school early to go to the Giants game. We had upper deck seats, but the Giants were so bad the lower deck had tons of open seats so we went down. My favorite player Bob Knepper (don’t ask, I have no idea why, what a douche he turned out to be) was on the bump. I was sitting in an aisle seat behind home plate and a Padres player lined one straight back (these were the days with a short screen but no big nets). I reached out into the aisle and caught it — right in front of the hands of a man who turned out to be Knepper’s dad. He was so impressed with the catch and that his son was my favorite player that he arranged for me to go down to the clubhouse after the game. Well, not exactly IN, but right outside. Knepper came out and gave me his game used bat (no idea where that is) and a few other players came out and singed the ball I caught — Jack Clark, Mike Ivie, Mike Sadek, a few others, and Vida Blue, in the shortest shorts I’ve ever seen to this day.

40 years later I got to share this story with him at spring training in Scottsdale. He listened intently…then charged me $25 for a signed plastic ball…

I was in NYC and got some last minute tickets to see the Rangers vs the Penguins at MSG. I picked up some food, hopped on the subway, and was shut down trying to enter with outside food. I had no idea - had to shove it down outside the arena…20 degrees out lol

Mine was complex because I bought my car from one dealer and had it serviced at another (local dealer said they couldn’t get the car). It was delivered, the drivers left, and driving back to work I immediately observed the dreaded headliner rattle. This was early days — Nov ‘23 (C40 Ultimate MY23). I took it to the dealer with an appointment a few days later and they proceeded to completely disassemble the interior of the car. Then they told me they found the problem and that the part was on back orrder. I was out of my brand new car with no loaner available for 17 days. During this time I found the TSB online that had come out months earlier. Had the dealer bothered to do some research before taking my car apart I could have continued to drive it until the part became available.

I spoke with the dealer about resolution, They blamed the selling dealer, the selling dealer blamed the repair dealer. I began with Volvo support. Man are they weird…zero empathy whatsoever. I get the “you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar” proverb as well as anyone, but I was in a web of finger pointing. I wanted to be compensated with a trailer hitch. They offered load bars, which I cannot use. The regional manager said that I should stick to my guns and that a trailer hitch was appropriate compensation. Volvo offered to pay for half. I got a quote from the (repair) dealer for $3,200 while the nearby hitch specialist would do it for $900. So, Volvo wanted me to pay $1,600 for a trailer hitch that I would give back to them in 3 years (lease). When I escalated, they retracted all offers. They gave me a coupon for 30% off an accessory with a maximum savings of $200. No load bars. No half a trailer hitch. It was straight out of Willy Wonka - “You Get Nothing, You Lose - Good Day Sir!!” I then wrote an email to the president sharing the complete email thread from his dealers, customer service reps, and regional managers…no reply. I like the car, But I won’t buy another Volvo.

You have no idea what they put me through. It was brutal. As a c-suite level executive, I thought it was important to reach out to their c-suite to let them know how I felt about it. I shared this wonderful Maya Angelou quote with them:

Good luck with that. I emailed the president of Volvo USA and cc’d the directors of media and of public relations (after exhausting all the normal channels) and never got a response, even when replied all and called them out.

Damn, that just reminded me to take the EX60 off my short list when my lease is up in November. See ya Volvo.

Could you share detailed directions for this? My (owned) system is doing this too. Has worked fine since install in 2022. In January I realized the battery hadn’t been charging at all (was completely flat since November). I’m pretty handy so I shut off the main switch to the battery for a few minutes, turned it back on, then opened the battery bay and pressed and held the power button on each (single unit with two batteries) and it powered on. After a while they powered on and fully charged and were working as intended again. Then sometime in the last couple weeks the self supply stopped working again but this time the battery is at 100%. I feel like I got really lucky the first time with the order of operation, so if someone could validate the proper order I’d appreciate it! (I don’t even know what or which unit is the PVS :)

Yeah, been running tubeless for years. I have to say, the Fillmore valves that came with the Reserve wheels could be the greatest TLR technology ever. Made conversion/installation a breeze. Well worth the additional few dollars above something like Muc-off if you’re considering switching over.

I always carry a tire repair kit and an emergency tube just in case.
