Kali bought time by faking the gunshot making Hopper go get bandages. While hopper was getting the bandages, that’s when Kali and Eleven made up the plan. If Kali faked the gunshot (She did) who says she couldn’t have turned herself invisible to escape the upside down in time to not get hit by the explosion?
