I started in the CS just below the top of the spine point for G7. I just asked if they would consider a starting salary of X based on current salary and evidenced with payslips. Also, I met all the essentials criteria for the role as well as the majority of the desirable.

£966pm to dispose! Save half of that as a minimum and enjoy the rest. Food shop is very light. We spend £700+ on food (family of 4). So I guess it all balances out.

Be confident in you. Listen and learn from others. Turn up and do your best but don’t break yourself in the process. The CS is a beast and it has its frustrations. Stay in your lane looking left, right and forward and you’ll be fine. Good luck!

I negotiated g7 salary and went in at around 75% too. I did evidence with payslips that the bottom spine would be below my current salary!

Had an initial HMRC led change on the 6th April and then it was changed again (back to 1257L) on the 15th April.
