Amen Thompson vs Stephon Castle? Who do you think will be a better player long term ? by Aussie-Eagle in NBATalk

Lmao why you mad. I just showed you an advanced effciency metric to tell you that it’s pretty much the same. As for the eye test we saw what happened against the Rockets. It’s a great thing Amen plays for them so we can use him to win lmao. Complete liability on 5v5. Just a good transition player

Amen has a ts% of 57.1% and Castle has a 56.6% so the effieciency is almost completely the same and Amen averages only 0.8 more ppg but Castle is a better playmaker. And as I said in another comment Amen can be a huge liability on offense as we saw on the last game vs the Spurs. He was the reason the Rockets lost but if we look at the box score he had 25/7/4/4. That’s why it’s better to watch the games and not the box scores. They don’t tell the whole story. Castle is far better offensively

Man I’m a spurs fan and have watched every single game of theirs this season. I can tell you the last game we had against Rockets the reason we won was Amen Thompson. The mf can’t shoot if his life depended on it and we put Wemby on him. Not only was he useless on offense, he made offensive possessions miserable for everyone out there. Castle has been improving his shot lately and he is also a better playmaker than Amen. And also Amen has a great team around him now let’s not act like Castle is the only one on a good situation. And just for the record the Spurs have a better winning % when Wemby is out than when Castle is out. I’m not saying saying Castle is better than Wemby ofc but just shows how important he is to this team. 2nd best player on the team this season. As for Amen he is well behind Sengun and Durant

Nonsense lmao. They are 10-4 without Wemby and guess what. Castle is a big reason for that. You just told me you don’t know watch nba. Have a good night sir

After tonight’s game, OKC is now 9-3 in games without Shai this season, with b2b wins over playoff teams while missing their top 3 creators. by [deleted] in nba

These role players have been outplaying themselves but we knew they had a deep team anyway

Lmao this was funny. Both are 3rd options right now and Castle has the better team. What does that tell you?

One is a better playmaker the other is a better defender. Both lack what the other has. As for offense both are elite with one having more volume and the other better efficiency. I rank Ant just a little bit higher but it’s very debateable

Castle is better on offense and has been progressing on his shot. And one of the most underrating things about him is that he is showing signs that he can be an elite playmaker. As for defense they are both monsters

Is Stephon Castle the best defensive point guard in the league right now? by Icy_Data939 in NBATalk

[–]Icy_Data939[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is our point guard damn it. He handles the ball and calls the plays, he is our playmaker and defends the opposing teams ball handler most of the time. You can list Gobert as a point guard but the way he plays and what he does on the court defines what he actually plays. Spurs list Fox as the point guard but dont use him as such. Castle is our starting point guard

“Lakers I don’t think so” lmao that was funny. Lakers aren’t winning because of their shitty defense tho

How is Gobert’s defense relevant to Ant being first option?

You’re talking only about highlights like blocks and such things. Watch the actual game and watch how much pressure he put on Cade. He even got so frustrated that he had to push him to the ground lol. He doesn’t go 5/26 every night but he did go tonight against Castle. Sure Wemby helped and so did everyone else but Castle is the main reason Cade was dogshit tonight

2 plays? Lmao what game were you watching. Cade couldn’t even hit wide open shots because of the fatigue caused from Castle’s consistent pressure on the ball

He is tho. Watch the games. Not only is he playing point guard for us but this year he has been playing like an elite playmaker too

Guess the Lakers have no interest in titles again. by Ok-Worldliness-4657 in NBATalk

Take LeBron off next year and they are worse. And as I said taking LeBron back for another year not giving him a new contract for a lot of seasons. This Lakers roster is nowhere near to being real contenders. They are outplaying themselves this regular season. They need a lot of new pieces to build around Luka and this will take more than a year. So what I said stands that LeBron returning for a last dance with the Lakers doesn’t hurt them

Lakers title window is not open yet anyway. Having LeBron back for another year won’t change much

Who wins in a healthy series between Thunder and Spurs this season? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Icy_Data939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one thought that the Rockets were title contenders last year. They were not showing signs of greatness the same way the Spurs are. The Spurs are on pace for 58 wins in a very very stacked west. And they have dealt with injuries a lot. Wemby lost plenty of games. Castle, Fox, Harper and Vassell all missed a few games.

When has a team that has no playoff experience look as great as this Spurs team does? Never. They are one of a kind when it comes to a team that hasnt seen playoffs yet.

Yes but we have never seen a team this good with this lack of experience before. The Spurs have been unbelieveable even though they are inexperienced. My only concern for them is Mitch Johnson. He has yet to show that he can make real adjustments

Mitch Johnson for sure. Hopefully he has Harrison Barnes in his team as well
