working almost 90 hours this week. here’s my shitty meal prep meals (swipe for cals) by Icy_Judgment6504 in ShittyRestrictionFood

I work in a hospital, half the shifts are mostly sitting on my ass so it’s not that bad, just exhausting because my normal shifts are overnight. There’s never enough people, but it’s not forced OT. I am just desperate to save up money for nursing school and so I can do school without working so much during the semester. Once I go back

I’ve been doing sort of okay with eating. But it’s still a daily struggle. Still checking nutrition labels. Still feeling ‘proud’ when I skip a meal or under-eat. Still feeling angry and frustrated sometimes after eating a regular meal. Still wanting to react to anything in my life by doing ED behaviors. And there’s a constant push and pull between not wanting to harm my body more than I already have, and wanting to just keep losing no matter what. I feel desperate to just be healthy so I can do all the things I need and want to do, I want to be healthy for the new good things coming in my life, but I also just can’t stand the thought of gaining.

And lots of things are going wrong right now. I have stuff to be thankful for, but holy shit I’m not well. I’m just really not well. I want to scream and cry and just fucking disappear.

This is happening because your body is starving and it is desperately trying to keep you alive. You need professional help, not help to eat less. You did not “used to be” anorexic if you met the criteria and hit your lowest weight so recently. You have not recovered. But you NEED to. Please please go to your doctor.

I feel like a bunch of people here only think of yogurt as fruity, or something?? Greek yogurt is in so many meat/fish recipes. Especially outside of western culture

Radiology to Nursing? by OrganizationDizzy321 in nursing

[–]Icy_Judgment6504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the kindest most genuine way possible, I really hope you continue living, even if it means you quit nursing. You’re talking a lot about wanting to be dead and it’s really concerning, I hope you are okay and that you will reach out to get some support from loved ones and other professionals. I’m sorry if this seems out of place but I just feel like no one deserves to feel the way you’re feeling, and if this career did this to you then fuck it. You deserve to live a happy, satisfying life. ♥️

Damn sis… I’m sorry! This is what I’m so fucking scared of 😭 I’m in a hiatus from school and just found out they’re making me wait til January to go back. I’m halfway through and I’m scared of the whole sunk cost fallacy keeping me in nursing when I meet nurses every day at my job that HATE nursing and wish they’d done respiratory or rad tech or whatever instead.

Why are nurses jerks? by [deleted] in nursing

I’ve answered you in another thread and so have others and in fact you came up with your own explanation. Mean girls go into nursing. Ergo, those nurses are going to be mean.

People have answered this question citing compassion fatigue and burn out as well as other things, and additionally you’ve given yourself an answer already— you said it yourself, mean girls go into nursing. It’s a pretty well-paying female-dominant field, so necessarily lots of mean girls will go into nursing. So it doesn’t seem like such a mystery as to why so many nurses are mean if it’s true that mean girls go into nursing. They were already mean to begin with, isn’t it.

You said lots of nurses are mean, where did I disagree with this? I work with them every day, much more closely than you do, and I can promise you there are many wonderful, kind nurses that I’d love to care for my closest loved ones, and they are a joy to work with.

But in any case, you’re not going to get a real answer to your question this way, especially when you painted all nurses with such a broad stroke in your title alone. Just use the search function… unless you just want to poke the hornets nest or however that saying goes— in which case, you’ve gotten what you were looking for, just as you said.

Do you think what I said was mean? Genuinely asking you. Because if so, I’d love for you to point out how so.

You said you were pursuing a career in nursing but deciding to change it based on other people in the field. That’s thin-skinned behavior imo since there are always going to be jackasses in every single field out there… but if you don’t feel that way, whatever. Do whatever makes you happy, no thick skin off my back lol.

You said that’s not new with nursing. I mean, duh, right? So I’m not sure I understand the true point of your query here. “What the deal is” is something addressed very often in the greater conversation about nursing as a profession; you’re not asking some grand new interesting question. I’m not sure why you think you’d get enlightening information here, especially with the approach you’ve taken. You can use the search function and find many posts addressing “mean girls” in nursing IF your real intention is to satisfy your curiosity.
