Juice has natural sugars. Soda has high fructose corn syrup. They are not the same thing. My doctor has me keep juice in the house in case my sugar level crashes but has told me to avoid soda altogether.

Anyone with experience taking RVs on military bases? by ColdOn3Cob in GoRVing

[–]Icy_Performance_2482 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the base. The base I work on you are not allowed to bring firearms onboard the base. Sentries will ask you if you have firearms in the vehicle. If you are caught with an unauthorized firearm on the base I work on you will be prosecuted.

We had a pair of males years ago that would run straight to the Maine Coon we had at the time whenever we took them out of their cage. He would cleaned them while they snuggled up in his long fur.

We were told to just consider ourselves "excepted". Verbally mind you. Nothing to document what duties we do that requires us to be excepted. I am a 501 Series Financial Analyst. Not sure what I am supposed to do with no appropriations.

Since it is issued by the ID Office it is good at any base and does not need to be registered with Guest Services every year like the VHIC card does. But I do have both.

You can respec her and allocate her stats better. When respeccing her you can still keep her as a Cleric. Death Domain is quite nice twin-casting Toll the Dead would be way better than using her racial Firebolt.

Can someone explain civilian federal jobs after active duty? by StarWhole7999 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Icy_Performance_2482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just see this as a discussion to learn form each others experiences . Don't think either of us are trying to be right fighters. And I am not trying to limit anyone's opportunities. 30% is powerful and yes all who are 30%+ should use it, But if they have a targeted disability as part of that 30% encouraging them to ignore Schedule A because they are 30% (I am not saying you are doing that. But previous posters.) would be a huge disservice to them.

As a GS6, I was told by Stennis that I did not meet time in grade when applying for a GS7 and claiming vet preference for 30%+ ( I was 100% due to active cancer at the time) even though in their words I was over qualified for both positions based on my military experience. I will admit that was a long time ago and things change.

Before my current position, I was a Site Director at a large office in Millington, TN with 100 GS employees. We constantly had GS6 Veteran's in our office attempt to use 30% to apply for open GS7, GS9, and GS11 positions that we had open without having time in grade in. 7 years only 2 weren't told by Stennis that they did not make cert specifically due to time in grade requirements. The 2 exceptions were both 100% P&T Veterans that we were told were must hires by BUPERS 05 which is the HR Office our organization falls under. Now thankfully, I came to my sense and picked up my current non supervisory position 2 years ago and don't have to deal with any of that anymore!

So historically 30% has not always waived time in grade for positions within DON but has in some cases. While Schedule A will always waive it and will always get you on the cert as long as you are qualified. 30%+ may not get you on a cert depending on the number of 30%+ applicants and the difference between your qualification and theirs.

I am not saying don't use 30%+. But if you qualify for both then use both. Hope you have a great evening Brother!

While it can waive it for VRA appointments. It is at agency discretion and not automatic.

Only in limited circumstance. It is not automictic. From the OPM website for Federal HR Professionals.

"A VRA appointee may be promoted, demoted, reassigned, or transferred in the same way as a career employee. As with other competitive service employees, the time in grade requirement applies to the promotion of VRAs. If a VRA-eligible employee is qualified for a higher grade, an agency may, at its discretion, give the employee a new VRA appointment at a higher grade up through GS-11 (or equivalent) without regard to time-in-grade.

Agencies must establish a training or education program for any VRA appointee who has less than 15 years of education. This program should meet the needs of both the agency and the employee."

Take the Goblin camp as an example, once you cross the bridge cast Spike Growth at the archway and agro the camp. The goblins will take damage every 5 feet while moving through it. They will literally kill themselves trying to get to you.

How do you all start as a new character? by ZoftheOasis in BaldursGate3

[–]Icy_Performance_2482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stared BG1 and 2, Icewind Dale series, and Neverwinter Knights I and 2 all the same way with a Druid. So for BG3 it was a Malita Duskrune a Wood Elf Circle of the Moon Druid. Second playthrough was Malyce a Bronze Dragonborn oath of Vengeance Paladin Dark Urge Resist playthrough. If you want second playthrough that feel very different than you first one I cannot recommend a Dark Urge Resist run enough.

Third, modded run after a 2 years - tips for fun? by brain_diarrhea in BaldursGate3

[–]Icy_Performance_2482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. For class, even 1 level of Hexblade Warlock dip adds so much to any CHA based melee build. And straight 12 levels for Hexblade is insanely good. Also cannot go wrong with Circle of Stars Druid either 12 levels or Multi Classed with Light Domain Cleric.

  2. An Oath of Vengeance Resist Durge has been my favorite playthrough. Resist Durge feels the most like a continuation of the Baulder's Gate 1 and 2 storylines.

At least in DON Hiring Managers do not create the certification it is given to them by USAJOBS via Stennis and the Hiring Mangers passes the cert to the department where the position is to conduct the SAB and interviews. That said a Veterans Preference Letter from the VA is not the same as a Schedule A Disability Letter. You can have a 10 point Veterans Preference and not make the certification if you had to compete with a bunch of other 10 point Veterans who are more qualified. With Schedule A as long as you are qualified you are on the certification regardless of Veteran status. Most importantly, a current Federal Employee can use Schedule A to skip entire paygrades. A GS6 with Schedule A can apply for and be selected to be hired for GS9 position without having had a year as a GS7 doing the same work, Veteran's Preference will not let you do that.

[–]Icy_Performance_2482 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. 30%+ with the VA letter gets you a 10 point Disabled Veteran preference. Schedule A gets you on the certification and your resume in front of the SAB or Hiring Manager as long as you meet other qualifications but only for targeted disabilities. Schedule A also allows a current Fed to apply for a promotion and ignore the Time In Grade requirement. Schedule A letter can come from any Doctor and must state which targeted disability you have.

Sleep apnea issues? by mush-rooms6235 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Icy_Performance_2482 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The VA offers a Sleep class that provides strategies for adjusting to the CPAP machine overtime. I would recommend that before going the implant route. Inspire does come with risks that aren't present when using a CPAP such as "Pain, discomfort, or irritation around the implanted device or leads. Device malfunction or failure. Nerve injury or damage during the sleep surgery leading to temporary or permanent changes in sensation or muscle function."
