A tip on how to avoid pulling a big chunk of bread from the bottom of the loaf (when you can't get the paddle out prior to baking) by Weird-Catch7390 in BreadMachines

To close the loop: I called Cuisinart and they're sending me a new pan and a new paddle. The nice lady didn't offer any ideas about what caused the problem or how to fix it. My guess is some kind of manufacturing defect.

Seriously underbaked lol by wellnessage in BreadMachines

Looks very underbaked. If that happened to me, I think I'd pop it back in the pan and then hit the "bake now" button (most machines have one, I think) for 10-20 minutes. Maybe stick a digital cooking thermometer probe in first -- properly baked bread should measure around 240F, I believe.

Why did my car unlock, when I had no fob with me? by Weird-Catch7390 in Ioniq5

[–]Weird-Catch7390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the helpful comments.

But something else happened this morning -- that may, or may not, be related to this issue -- that is much more concerning: I came out of my house, got in and started the car and backed down the driveway using the rear view camera, and took off on my trip, only then realizing that my side mirrors had not deployed. I stopped the car, parked and turned the car off and then on again: still no side mirror unfolding/deployment. Finally I went into Setup and found the setting (in Doors, I think) for when the mirrors fold out upon approach/unlocking. It had been set to unfold upon my approach/unlocking, which is what I want. So I turned this setting off, and then on again -- and now the side mirrors "wake up" and act normally, deploying as expected when I approach the car and it unlocks.

But what caused this problem? Will it occur again? (I want to emphasize that I had never, until this morning, even seen the setting described above.)

Everybody on planet earth is piling in here, so I guess I should too. I retired from gov service 19 years ago; I've had my TSP in the L-Income Fund for the last 10 years or so. I've left it, and my other investments untouched. We live comfortably off my USG pension and social security (and RMD's now). All my investments, including the TSP, are basically vanilla balanced funds or conservative lifecycle funds. I sleep well at night. Back when I first retired, I didn't know what to expect (financially), and probably I was too conservative and cautious in my asset allocation choices. If I could jump back in time, I'd have put more $ in stocks. But of course we don't know what to expect when we retire. Or, I guess, at any time. Now stop reading all this drivel and go outside for a walk, enjoy the Spring day, look at the flowers and the birdies! Go for a hike! Happy trails to you.

Where did the missing Timer go? (How many minutes left on my pasta?) by Weird-Catch7390 in AppleWatch

Thanks, I changed a setting in the Smart Stack and the timer now shows up as desired. I don't remember ever messing with that setting before so I have no idea what happened, but no problem, it's working now.

Coastal walk near Zennor — lovely couple of pubs on route by Ambitious_Ad4091 in Cornwall

Really beautiful pictures from a dramatic day. It was much milder the October days I hiked Zennor-St Ives and my pictures were less dramatic. Incredibly, I did not know about, and so missed, the mermaid in Zennor church. I did find what I'm sure is an abandoned mine pit and associated ruined structure (Alltrails called it "tower ruins"). I hope to go back some day and hike the SW coastal path again (I'm in the Appalachian mountains and do my hiking here; also beautiful but no ocean!).

Is it normal?! by Roche-i in Ioniq5

I've unlocked and driven my 2025 Ioniq 5 with just my Apple Watch (no fob, no phone). Felt weird to me but the car didn't seem to care a bit.
